<div class="IPBDescription">what's worthwhile?</div>So I *finally* got my hands on a Wii. Now I need to find a second controller + nunchuck -_- I can sorta understand them not being able to make enough Wiis to keep up with demand, but surely it can't be that expensive to manufacture the darn controllers a little faster... but I digress.
The last Nintendo system I had was a SNES (well, besides my DS). I've missed out on all GameCube games and most N64 games. What are some must-have games from those generations? Metroid Prime I should probably get, and Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker, but other than those, I don't know what I missed out on =d
and what are the worthwhile Wii games out there? I got Zelda of course, and Elebits. Plan to get Rayman but Best Buy was out of stock in that department too. Also hear WarioWare is awesome.
Tips?

<i>Super Smash Bros. Melee</i>

N64:
Goldeneye (Ah, a classic. And after my opinion the only movie-Game which turned out good)
Conker's Bad Fur Day (Must have)
Zelda: The Ocarina of time (The most important one)
Banjo Kazooie (?)
Super Mario 64 (Important if you have played Super Mario Brothers 1,3 and world... It's a root thingy.)
GC:
Super Smash Brothers Melee
...
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (<-- Silly Joke. Sue me)
For gods sake don't buy the one up there...
Super Smash Brother Melee roxx0rs the b0xxors too, but yeah, Wii version coming - though no release date atm iirc other than 2007 - so hardly soon.
If you like hard arcade Shoot 'em ups, Ikaruga is THE game. but be warned it's HARD.
Metroid Prime 1 & 2 is good too imho. 3D FPS/platformer. 3rd game is coming on the Wii.
Paper Mario 2: Thousand year door - a 2D turnbased RPG based around mario and whatnot.
Metroid Prime is also worth getting for the GC.
Donky Konga is rather interesting
If you like pinball pick up a copy of Odama
As for the Wii:
Rent Red Steel, Alot of people have bashed it however when I tested it out (at a friend's house) I got hooked and got a copy for my self.
Monkey Ball is good if you are going to have people around.
Exite Truck is great racing game if you are not actualy into racing games.
I am with you on RayMan
If you want another WiiMote then pick up WiiPlay (it came out yesterday, you should still be able to find a copy)
For what is coming out:
Smash Bros Brawl
Mario Galaxy
Guitar Hero was announced recently
I am actualy eagerly awaiting my Wii, it shoudl be here tomorow (or worst case, day after). My games and extra controller ofcourse came yesterday, but the Wii itself sat in WV for 2 days.
Goldeneye (Ah, a classic. And after my opinion the only movie-Game which turned out good)
Conker's Bad Fur Day (Must have)
Banjo Kazooie (?)

I hope you understand none of these will be on the Virtual Console....
Anyway, pick these up.
GameCube:
Pikmin
Pikmin 2
Super Smash Bros. Melee (Only if you have friends to play, other than that it's pretty boring.)
Twilight Princess (Because having Link Right-Handed is blasphemy)
Eternal Darkness
Resident Evil (Remake)
Resident Evil 4
Beyond Good and Evil (If you don't have the X-Box, PS2 or PC version already)
Super Mario Sunshine
Metroid Prime 1
Metroid Prime 2 (This game actually sucks in a sense, very inferior to the first one)
That's about it for now, if I think of anything else that's good I'll post it.
Personally I'm waiting on Smash Bros Brawl, Metroid Prime 3: corruption and Trauma Center: Second Opinion (which will be more awesome than the moon on a stick) :3
on virtual console I'd 100% recommend buying Bomberman '93 if you have friends around. Sooooo worth it. You'd be amazed at how much better Bomberman is without all the silly powerups that have been added over the years. Did I mention it's a 5 player game?
I'd go with Nintendo Puzzle Collection
Only because it contains a rough facimile of the greatest SNES game of all time.

If you can get your hands on the Zelda collectors edition disk, Majora's Mask and OoT are on there. OoT will probably be released on VC soon, but I'm not sure about MM, and despite what you might have heard, MM is a very very good game. It has some issues with its saving system, like losing many hours of play- in which I completed an annoying lengthy fetch quest AND completed all of a dungeon up to the boss(water temple)- because I wanted to see what happens when the moon hits...
But other than that, it's a great game. The mask system allows for some very interesting characters, the atmosphere adds meaning to your quest, the dungeons are just as good as OoT's(if more complicated), and it has a huge number of side quests.
Unfortunately, the disk goes for $50 on EBay. Also, the N64 emulation is not very good. It's crashed on me once(before I ever saved), and the frame rate drops sometimes. Still, with OoT and MM, you'll easily get more and better game time than the great majority of the modern games being released for the same price.
As for Wii games, the only one I own is TP. I probably won't buy any more until Metriod or Mario Galaxy, but, I don't buy new games much. TP is amazing, don't rush it and you should be able to get 60+ hours out of it(I got 45ish, but I did most of the side quests after I beat the game)
Edit-@Liku- Debatable. OoT did some things better, MM did some things better. Now, I'd agree that MM did more things better than OoT, but I think the game would have been much better received if they had used a more normal save system.
While on the subject of Zelda games, I think that TP is OoT on crack minus some of the good things about MM(like, side quests and character development). I had more fun with TP than MM. As for OoT, I first played it too long ago to properly remember how much fun I had(although, I do remember beating it twice start to finish in 1 week and being almost in tears the first time I beat it...)
My singleplayer games are games which I think they have great stories, while my multis... well if I have friends over.
OKAY.
SOLO:
Killer7
OMG THE STORY MAKES MY BRAINS BLEED, Well, if you like stories going inside out of your stomach like MGS, in addition to twisted music and a distinct art style, THIS IS YOUR GAME!
Beyond Good Evil
Jade is hawt. Okay maybe not, but the little lighthouse orphans are...
Eternal Darkness
WTH WHOS IN MY HOUSE! If you've got bawls, this games got lawls.
Second Sight
OMG WHARS MY MEMORIES! Figure out who you are and... pwn?
XIII
OMG WHARS MEMORIES PART 2! Political plot and conspiracy, are you john do?
Resident Evil
ZOMBOS, PUZZLES AND JILLS! Looks better than GoW too!
Metroid Prime
Save the world. Again. And you'll be singing the theme song at night!
Multi:
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles
SLASH AND LOOT BABY! Ya, you need a GBA for multiplayer for this one, but IF YA GOT GREENS GET EM!

Now, I'd agree that MM did more things better than OoT, but I think the game would have been much better received if they had used a more normal save system.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->If it had a normal method of saving it would have been just another Zelda game. Time was of the essence in the game, and you knew it. It was actually challenging too, unlike the other ones.
Pick up Luigi's Mansion too, very awesome yet short.
Super Smash Brothers Melee
Resident Evil 4
<strike>God of War</strike> Wind Waker
If you get those you wont be disappointed.
--------------------------------------------------
My 3 favorte N64 games:
Zelda Ocarina of Time
Super Smash Brothers
Super Mario 64
God of War's only on the PS2 sadly.

Really?....
Uhhhhhh ...
memory fading, everything turning black...
catch me jesus
Well, then scrap God of War (still an awesome game) and add Wind Waker <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (<-- Silly Joke. Sue me)
For gods sake don't buy the one up there...
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
A friend of mine has that. Its awesome if you don't mind a game which actually challenges you, and if you can tolerate various brightly coloured mammals as the protagonists.
i also found battalion wars for 10 dollars and got that. havent played it yet but ive heard lots of good things, and theres a second one coming for the wii that looks cool.
Everything from Amy to all the characters that came after her is just depressing...
Every time I hear the tune "Live and Learn!" now I get all giddy just remembering how awesome it was XD
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle has a horrible camera (that only seems to get worse with each new sonic game rather than better), fidgetty controls and a pretty silly story. Despite all that however it has one of the most stirring final boss fights I've ever played :o
