The idea of limiting the upwardsspeed is fine. But it simply suxx. I already got used to it but always find myself hiding in vents instead of scouting the map, because its simply toooo risky to fly arround. IMHO lerk is also supposed to scout, but if you scout you are most of the time alone. Imagine there is a sneaky marine with SG ambushing you around the corner? What to do? Blindly attack him and try to kill him, because you cant ###### escape anyway? most likely you'll end up dead in both scenarios. I'm saying this over and over again all the time... lerk is too slow. You cant even support properly while a fade rushes into a crowd of marines, because you have to be near them (there are corners in maps aswell uuuuhh! just think about it).

Let me predict the reply to that: DUUH you're supposed to play the Lerk as a support class, you're not supposed to be alone, you're not supposed to risk your lerk by going around corners, you're supposed to hide in vents and spore, and the fade isn't supposed to rush into a crowd of marines.
The lerk does suck right now, it's more or less like a flying pig that's fragile and difficult to maneuver with. It's easy to argue that you can just change your style of play with the lerk. That's pretty obvious, nobody needs to be told that and you're [not directed at the person who was quoted] not smart for saying it.
The difference is that not only is lerking less effective now, it's also less fun and more risky, which makes it much less appealing especially in competitive play. I guess it is intended to make the lerk easier to kill in pubs for new players and if nothing is changed then yes, it will now be a boring support class. If anything, there should have been a different way to balance it - perhaps requiring more energy to fly upwards instead of reducing the speed.
Looked at page 2 of this thread and both sides making thinly-veiled insults at the other sides NS'ing. Seriously, topic title aside I have no idea what this thread is about.
Thus- in before the lock.
P.S. The devs wil tell you that the lerk wasn't designed to only be a support fighter.
do you still know how to play ns in US ? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Seriously though, lerk is fine until about 6-7 minutes, so perhaps increase the vertical speed cap once the second hive is up? Won't go down well with the devs but the timing is about right. <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
It doesn't mean you don't have a foot to stand on to discuss balance, it does affect an ability to speak about competitive NS however. My break was also not "self-imposed," I spent 15 months in a hostile country because my government told me to, large difference. Another difference is I came back and started playing competitively again, so please re-examine your statement. My points still stand.

While the initial sentiment and some of the discussion that followed was nice, I can't really see this thread going anywhere worthwhile from its current position.
