<div class="IPBDescription">just a quick model</div>hey guys! i'm new to the whole 3d thing really but i thought i'd give a low poly weapon a shot! it's my first attempt and much like the other modellers here i can't skin (should learn really) so i haven't even tried!
i was gonna try to make a newer version of the standard pistol in the same style but got impatient and just made a crap version lol! let me know what you think! oh and the detail was mostly gonna be in the texturing!
the model is apparently 607 faces btw!

here's a rather cheap and nasty colour scheme lol

The model looks good, by the way. It's not _exactly_ low poly. It's more like medium-poly in terms of what's produced for the HL engine these days. Low poly would be like 200-300 polys. At any rate, it certainly looks good to me.

i was working on the pistol being one that upgrades as the wepaon enhancements are applied! no real thought has gone into it yet though as you might've guessed!
here's a quick bit of progress:

i'll see if i can get some kinda skin on the model if i get time! for the minute it's just a side project!

You might want to keep in mind, though, that such a weapon would probably use the exact same size and shape clip for both barrels, so the side clip should look exactly like the clip inside the grip. That is, it should angle backwards towards the user, and have a larger base than sides, the same way the clip inside the grip does.
Oooh! Or better yet, as long as the gun is going to be impractical, it should have <i>two</i> grips, and the marine could hold onto both for added stability. The reload animations alone would be awesome. Hell, if you get that finished, with the second grip or without, and get it skinned, I'll learn to animate just so I can animate it.
and don't worry i know they are really rough looking lol!
in case your interested, the hmg version!

the idea came from lookin at the orignal pistol, it looks like it may have 2 barrels and i couldn't just add a second barrel without making it look like it should work somehow. Obv taking the sidemag from the lmg was the way to go with that idea. I was gonna use the original pistol mag on my model but it's crappy looking (even more crappy than a simple box lol) so a simple design was just slapped on lol!
here's proof - crap!!! lol

i plan to make a few more variants of the weapon for shotgun, welder and maybe a flamethrower or something! also a few secondary attachments like shotgun, grenade and net launcher might be thrown in too! all that will have to wait though, work awaits <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
anyways depending on the feedback i'll have a look at re-modelling them properly and having a go at skinning them. Photoshop tutorials here i come lol <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/nerd-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::nerdy::" border="0" alt="nerd-fix.gif" />
