Can't run NS!

I've installed NS, and have a copy of Half-Life, but when I open Steam, it won't show NS, and I can't run it. Is there a way to fix this, or to use an alternative method to run NS? Can someone please let me know? Thanks.

Check to see if your NS folder is in the right location. It should be something like this:

    ...\Steam\SteamApps\youraccount\half-life\ns

Failing that, make sure you've followed all the instructions <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=90801" target="_blank">here</a>.

Before installing ns you should run hl at least once so that all the hl-related files are downloaded and installed properly. If you haven't done that, try running hl and then reinstalling ns. Also check that ns is installed in the hl directory.

Yea, I got a similar problem.

    1) I start it
    2) It changes the resolution and shows the hud background
    3) It closes and reverts the resolution to normal
    4) A memory dump file is created (~24k) - i can provide this if needed.

It's not a driver problem, as I can run other mods (SvenCoop) and I remember running the old NS on the same platform.

In my case, i installed SvenCoop and that replaced some dll's in the default HL dir (fmod.dll i think, maybe others).
I don't suggest that unless you got the Non-Steam HL1 Engine, the hybrid one that can run CS 1.6, has green menus like Steam but doesn't implement Steam's login service.

After I did that, NS still couldn't start (the problem I described in the post above).
I fixed this by using ns\cl_dlls\client.dll from NS 3.1
Now NS started and I managed to create a game... unfortunately it crashed ns_tanith in about ~30 seconds, co_angst after a bit longer. Other maps work fine.
