<div class="IPBDescription">Just wondering if anyone else is getting it.</div>So, I preordered Savage 2 a while ago, and because of that, I'll be beta testing the game in 12 days or so.

Just wondering if anyone else is looking forward to this game.

I enjoyed the first one, and I'm sure I'll enjoy this one as well.

Whoa, I forgot about that... I might go ahead and pick it up once I have a job... Which is a long way away. But I can't afford it right now. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

i was thinking about getting savage 2 as long as the developer this time actually cares about the damn game. I had the first one and it was pretty fun.

I thought they did pretty well with Savage. They fixed most of the bugs and did the best they could to keep everything going. They even supported the mod community, suggesting that everyone getting the patch also get one of those mods like Third Eye or whatever.

...a year later. here's some savage 2 info from Kotaku:

    <a href="http://kotaku.com/gaming/savage-2/savage-2-a-tortured-soul-244466.php" target="_blank">http://kotaku.com/gaming/savage-2/savage-2...soul-244466.php</a>

sounds really interesting, kinda NS-y, with commanders and resource collection and buildings and whatnot. You can also download Savage 1 for free apparently. I should do that since I missed the original.

I like when developers do that. Sierra did it with Tribes once I think...

I liked Savage, though not enough to play it even when it became "free".

I will wait untill there is a demo of S2 before I decide.

Yeah, it looks interesting, but to beat NS on the basis of RTS/FPS hybridness, or to beat BF2/whatever on the basis of a fun multiplayer FPS, well, it has a tough job. NS is free and awesome and runs great on my computer, and Savage 2 is going to cost me money. We'll see.

I didn't like savage 1. Every game seemed the same, and melee sucks.

Hehe, I posted this back in July. They still haven't released the beta to the preorder people yet.

    <!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Humans Almost Done
Dare I put a time figure on their completion but they should be done in 2 weeks. This includes 95% of all game functionality. Beast assets are 35% complete.

They gave a date of July 31st 2006 for beta testing. That's why Flayra's a smart guy, never gives dates in advance. "When it's done" = good answer. Although... It is beta testing, you'd have thought that when they announced back in April/May of last year that there would be beta testing to preorger people that they'd be close to done.

Hmm well actually guys, Savage2 is in a sense free. You can do free LAN play and single-player (bot matches), however to go online you must pay.

I think that is really smart on what they did. Most buzz gets around with LAN parties <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

*Edit* Hm, just noticed they posted a new beta update on their forums as of yesterday.

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Hello everyone. I wanted to give a more detailed update to the beta, here goes:

Right now we are fully testing the game on off location dedicated servers with employees from around the globe. The game is running smoothly, is very solid, and for the most part crash free.

The Human v Human gameplay is very exciting and has proven that our gameplay mechanics and concepts are well conceived.

We have a week or 2 of final interface changes and implimentations before the entire team moves onto the finalization of Beast implimentation. Once that begins it will go very quickly as all the Beast assets are in the game and fucntioning. The time spent finishign them will be fully setting up their special abilities and balancing their initial settings and putting in any custom interfaces and programming.

Once that is complete we will take a week or two to do last minute optimizations to the file structure, textures, animations, and code. We'll make any last interface tweaks and test the file distribution and auto updating systems. Once that process is complete we'll notify all the testers, place the initial install file online, open up the beta site and commence testing.

The first round of testing will not be play testing but rather testing our auxillary systems like auto updating, chat, buddy / clan lists, master server, options setting, etc... Once we're very happy with the stability and functionality of those we'll move onto stability testing of the game in action. This will be tedious testing of trying all kinds of actions in sequence, etc... to see if any strange bugs or crashes pop up. Once that phase is completed we'll move onto actual gameplay balancing testing which will continue until the end of the beta testing process.

Thank you for your patience, our apologies for the delays, but in the end we feel everyone will be very happy with what we deliver!

The only problem I had with savage was that the engine sucked. It couldn't handle many players at a time and their netcode caused problems as well. But the actual game was fun to play. I hope savage 2 makes it's engine better and they'll have a hit.
