Alien saga fans into this forum please
<div class="IPBDescription">what is your favorite movie/scene/line?</div>first of all my favorite movie out of the four is "aliens"... its my all time favorite sci-fi actually. Three things you need to decide in your post:
1.best alien movie
2.favorite scene. Hard to nail down one. The first encounter with the aliens in the hive is pretty damn awesome... espeacially when the "walls" turn out to be hundreds of aliens. But i also love the scene where the aliens are running down that hall being absolutely mowed down by the automated entry guns.... "theyre wall to wall in there". 12 rounds remaining ftw. (Btw if in devs enter this post... the siege cannons are based on those sentry guns, are they not?)
3.favorite line! Wow there are so many! Um... its gotta be "get away from her you B**CH!". The funniest is when newt says "They mostly come out at night, mostly.... mostly." (lol dead set weirdest accent ive ever heard).
Anyway... thoughts?

Remember the scene with the chest burster? The director never actually told the actors what was gonna happen, so as to capture their true feelings. That's what makes it seem so real. Aliens 2 has some decent scenes, but I think the original landing, with the "bad*** mofo" monologue is the best. Reveals alot about the characters.
Best line? Anything by Ash. Ian Holm can say anything and make it sound cool and calculating, just like a robot. I wonder how I never figured it out when I was first watching the movie back in the day.
Alien: 9
Aliens: 10
Alien 3: 3
Alien Resurrection: 2
Way to kill off Hicks you ******* <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad-fix.gif" />
Favourite line: No idea
Favourite scene: Also no idea. I need to watch them all again <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
Scene: Where the hardcore woman and the ######weed commander guy blow themselves up in the vent.
Line: It's either "Game over, man!" or "They're coming out of the god damn walls!"
What are those? Never heard of them. They don't exist. I don't you know what you're talking about, you guys are babbling.
Despite the weak story the movie itself isnt that bad.... some good "alien chases terrified inmates through weird complex" seqeunces.
The biggest problem with the movie though is... well... the prisoners! Like i give a ish if they die or not. theyre are ****holes who deserve to anyway. the marines in aliens were very likeable, the prisoners in alien 3 are NOT, except maybe the ringleader guy. the warden is a ######.
Alien resurrection is better than alien 3.. but only slightly. good action... but nothing else. the movie was never frightening even when it came out when i was in year 4 (1997). one of the first movies to suffer from "OMG AWESOME CGI lets forget about all other aspects of a good movie" syndrome.
let us not even speak of AvP. lets just say i cried... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
My favorite scene is probably the dropship/APC scene, despite the fact nothing is really going on; Bill Paxton going crazy about the marines equipment and the mood feel like a cool bad-assery filled insertion. Coincidentally it has one of the coolest and one of the funniest lines of the movie:
"Express elevator to hell: going down!" and
"Somebdoy wake up Hicks."
Alien is good for tension and the sci-fi precedent, but I find Aliens infinitely more fun to watch. Alien 3 is filled with all kinds of boring, and Alien Resurrection is one of those once every five/ten years kinds of movies. AvP is an okay movie in itself, but crappy if you try to include it in Predator or Alien canon material.
I actually had "express elevator to hell; going down!" as my startup sound on my university PC for a while XD
My fave lines though are the usual affair "game over man, game over!" plus the banter between One of the Marines and Vasquez when she's doing her chin ups:
<b>Marine:</b> "hey Vasquez, you ever been mistaken for a man?"
<b>Vasquez:</b> "No... have you?"
The sarge has some fabby lines too :3
As far as Resurrection goes, I went in expecting a comic-booky action flick and I got one. All good to me... not a lot of characterisation or rich story but gutloads of action.
Alien 3 is the <b>only</b> movie I have ever fallen asleep in. Even after being awake 3 days straight I managed to watch all of ice age (which was fun) no problem, while Alien 3 while fully rested is a challenge.
I fell asleep the first two times but managed to finally watch it fully on my third attempt which let me discover I hadn't really missed anything.
As you've no doubt seen mentioned, Criminals don't make great characters unless they have charm. Dillon was the only half-memorable character in there and for some reason even he didn't really 'catch' me fully and so every death was fairly lacking in tragedy. The characters had nothing to really live for and little depth.

Scene:

The two turret scenes (in the beginning and in the end)
----------
And probably the scene where the motion tracker is tracking the aliens closer then the walls.
I think the line was something like:
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->10 ft, 8 ft, 6 ft.
WHAT! that can't be... That's inside the room!<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I like a lot of the deleted scenes (Hadley's Hope pre-infestation, extra facehugger scenes, turrets, etc. (everything but Newt screaming at the beginning, really)) - but the turrets are the best. Personally I'm not a fan of Newt, and she's the only thing that brings down the movie, but I suppose you need to get your 'motherliness' and 'humanity' in there somewhere.
I also believe the marine Gem is referring to is Hudson, who also has the "she thought they said illegal aliens and signed up" quip. Unfortunately my copy of Aliens is about 5000 miles west of me, so I've got to go off memory instead of watching it again.
Possibly quoted somewhere saying:
<i>"I quite like feet. Have you noticed? Every one of my films has feet running past in it. Aren't they nice, feet?"</i>
Amazon.com is doing it for $45.59. I just thought I'd point it out for those who don't own it 'cos it seems like an awesome bargin, right here.
