    Cool
Does it post an exact .jpg copy of the .vtf or a smaller thumbnail?

    So when can we submit to the NS2 commit mailing lists? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

    Neat solution to commit emails.

Thanks for the insight, and a very useful addition. I will think about this email-technique in the future, right now we all just update from time to time <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Holy crap that's cool... Hadn't thought of using subversion in that way, will keep it in mind.

That is a pretty cool idea. I'm currently using Trac for a project, which has a nice timeline feature. We do a lot of small checkins though and the email spam would drive me nuts <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

First time I heard of all those dev tools but interesting read anyhow. Thanks for the frequest updates!

Damn, that seems like a no-brainer, but I don't know if I've ever seen it done. Finally, a way to make the art checkin messages more useful than "changed".

Something that just occurred to me: Do you/are you planning to have a similar feature for models, audio or maps? Hmm, though implementing it for models and maps might be a bit difficult.

Meh I've heard of most of them but never thought they could be combined into a well organized system like that. Was that everybody's idea to come up with that or just a genius on your team?

Generally unless you use these systems for everything you won't get that much benefit...

Its very common for game Dev companies to put version control on everything from models, textures, sound, code etc...

Nifty idea with the Tex snapshot posting, we're using an SVN as well for Intelligent Design, but obviously not with leet texture snapshottery. : P Ya'll continue to impress, keep up the good work. : )

That is pretty nifty. Tho the projects I work on tend not to have any images or models...

That way its just matter of running through all of the new items when you get an opportunity.

You could always store a jpg with the same name as the map/model and have the subversion script see if both are updated in the same commit and include the jpg(s) in the email. Seems a bit clumsier, but I don't really know how else you could get there in a more automated way.

True, and it's a 30 second job. I guess for me if I'm clicking a label in my email inbox I might as well be navigating to a trac timeline page. Still, considering that's the system the devs are using, the art preview is a really cool addition. It's always interesting to see the way other devs do things.

Thinking about it, another advantage of the email system is the ability to kick off a conversation about a checkin by simply forwarding the checkin mail to someone and adding questions/comments. That could be really useful.

Just a question do you have a rough idea of when the NS2TR is going to be released, because some of us realy want scratch that itch of playing with all of NS2 new toys and making some of our own and breaking them and fixing them again.
