Interested in Organized Play?

Have you ever thought about playing NS competitively, only to find a tremendously skilled player come into a pub server and wipe the floor with the opposing team? Did this experience kill any interest you might have had in organized play because you said "The skill gap is just too wide"?
I've been there, and it's been bothering me recently, so I thought maybe I'd do something about it. If you've ever heard of nslearn, ANSL-open division, or the concept of "farm teams" and thought they sounded interesting, read on.
My team's primary goal is to generate new teams. <b>Golden (who ranks among the top in the nation) has volunteered to provide training to new players who are interested in the competitive scene, but are turned off by the skill discrepancy between "good pubbers" and "veterans".</b>
This doesn't mean you have to get great right away. It's true that the training is from veterans, but it's to be applied in an environment that is designed around <b><i>regular everyday players</i></b>. This is a <b>game</b> that should be played for <b>fun</b> - dropping newbies in the deep end is no way to facilitate a fun and rewarding experience for everyone.
For these reasons, my team is recruiting captains for subteams who are interested in forming an in-house community to learn and grow for the purposes of future tournament play, general interest, or just to have a good time playing a great game with people you enjoy.
Anyone motivated to improve at NS and play in a more organized faculty without trying to suddenly jump the enormous gap between public servers, and high level competitive play will want to join as a captain. If you already know your way around the vet scene, starting a farm team is welcome too. We're looking for all skill levels so long as they value a great community and the spirit of sportsmanship.
Once enough (about 4) teams are recruited, trained, and stable, we're going to move the new teams into a small-town tournament system hosted by the American Natural Selection League. Again, <b>you don't have to be super-awesome to play in this league.</b>
So if you're interested in competitive but are turned off by the tremendous skill stacks the vet teams have, this is your chance to break in. If you've always wanted to run a team, but knew you didn't have veteran NS experience, this is your chance to "level up" from where you are to where you want to be. The community needs you!
<b>We're doing this for fun.</b> If you've ever been frustrated by the low levels of teamwork or general sense of disorientation on a pub server, or if you yourself would like to learn how to bunnyhop, aim, or command in a setting that doesn't require lightning reflexes just to get better, shoot me a pm with any questions or a join request. In the PM feel free to describe your reasons for joining or anything you feel is pertinent to your placement within the clan structure.
Here's looking forward to a great season,

I sent you a PM regarding this <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
Back on topic...
This is actually a really good idea. I know the NS competitive scene has shrunken considerably and this might be a good way to get its numbers back up. Hope you get enough people to get this going. And make sure you try to advertize a little on the pub servers (as long as the owner/clan doesn't mind of course).

Just for clarity, I'm not trying to magically "revitalize" the NS scene, I just want to get all the people interested in competitive trained and put into a conducive environment. After that it's up to you guys.
To what extent is skill not a factor...
I love the game and all, but I SUCK at it. My kill ratios are usually around 1-20 or so.
I'd practice whatever you taught me, but I can't promise I'll become nearly good enough to be in a clan... Ehh, worth a try though.
I'm VERY interested in this idea, but I have a question.

Theoretically thinking skill doesn't have anything to do with clanning. Clanners are most often people who want to play together with proper chances to work as a team and have fun. However clan enviroment gives proper chances for improving in the game since the teams aren't random and the communication is much easier and you know everybody tries to do their job. Soon most of the clanners end up outsmarting and outskilling most pubbers.
The whole point of the farm teams is to give everybody a chance to try out the clanning by gathering together public players (most quite bad at ns) and forming a team that is instructed and supported by a few more skilled players. The very point is that there's a stepping stone for those who don't qualify to the more experienced teams which are almost everything that is left in the competetive scene.
I'm VERY interested in this idea, but I have a question.

a while ago i played some custom map that has a sole purpose of explaining how to bunnyhop. i dont remember what it was called or where to find it, but even that couldnt help me get the technique down. i really honestly think i have the concept down but i just cant pull it off correctly.
the only game i can bhop in is painkiller but i dont know how different it is from the hl engine so i dont really count that.
and as far as the organized play goes, im down

Competitive NS is like Survivor: OUTWIT, OUTPLAY, OUTLAST.
I feel special now teehee.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Reflect got the OUTLAST part down, OUTLAST to #1
I made another funny.
totally different. if you try to hl bhop in painkiller you go nowhere. its actually quite disconcerting at first.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Isn't painkiller the one where you justhold forward, and you quakehop with air control? If I'm thinking about the same one it's a pretty retarded system.
This upcoming Friday, the 27th, I'm going to be doing a training session. Main topic will be strategies, but at the end I'll open it up to all questions anyone has. PM me on the forums or IRC for more info.

Anyone, anyone at all for whom the skill of bhopping has been and remains elusive, you should really take advantage of this. Even if you don't play in any organized fashion at all, it will add depth to your public play.

painkiller is a ridiculously awesome game though
but seriously, i really do want to learn how to bhop the right way <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
spam mouse wheel xD

no, you have to use evil scripts to bhop. honest!!! just ask the pubbers.

Until 3.2 when +movement was introduced, it was also impossible to leap-bite/blink-slash without scripts. If you say somebody doing that on a block-script server, they were obviously macroing.

Did any good player ever acctually use a leapbite script?
I know some high end players used various fade blink scripts, there was one for metabolism that was fairly common, and it was common to have something along the lines of "+attack; wait; -attack" bound, often with a 3jump, so blink wouldn't use as much energy as usually got used manually clicking +attack. But seriously... blink/swipe... massively useless.
Fixed.
