But I feel dirty not having my standard 100/5 frag score from like tfc, or 40/5 cs.
But 8/20 aint bad when you get to chew on a marine **obscenity**. HAha
Always a team player. If everyone is sitting around try to drum up support for an organised attack/probe. Both sides need team play. Seldom will 1 person beat everyone - even then they respawn! You will get worn down and then be dead.
As a marine demand instructions from the bossman. If he aint to forthcoming
1) prepare to defend the C&C.
2) organise an attack to take resource points.
3) use the resource points as staging to take a hive. Nothing annoys them critters more than a hive being occupied.
4) Demand instructions evey minute.
5) Do not demand weapons - the C&C will reward you for teamwork and good shooting (good shooter aughta get armour/and guns - nb the shotgun is imho rubbish! - and expensive)
6) If your not the leading unit - follow them - support them.
Aliens:
1) Attack
2) Attack
3).....
4) attack (all above include die)
5) think about gorge - do not switch to gorge instantly - u will need points to build something - hopefully a resource point - or defense chanbers (carapice/armour!!)
6) Not more than 2 gorges in a standard game unless were heavy defensive or heavy attack - even then you get more frags if your not gorge!
7) Takes Hives asap and build up defenses there - then the hive (it costs a lot so dont let it die!!)
8) For god sake communicate - when you see some bad guys parasite em then talk. Talk before switching to gorge!! Talk about setting up abushes- TALK!! Use voice coms - if you got the bandwidth - check it is working and you can be heard easily. Talk clearly. Know the locations on the map (names). The marines have there C&C we have to talk! If you aint got the bandwitdh - use the team chat. - At worst stick to the comms keys.
Enough team play is the most vital part of NS. - IMHO

Same thing with the aliens. You get around three or four of any group and you are talking kill marine central. Any marine seeing four skulks charging from all directions is going to be spitting out obscenities like you wouldn't believe. They know thy're screwed bad, especially if they are alone.
I always feel like I've played a good game when teamplay is used, whether I win or not.

Even worse than losing is the lamer on your losing team who seeing he had the most frags proudly proclaims... "I WIN!!!"
Makes me want to throw my monitor out the window....

Also on the subject of teamplay...voice communication is quite handy when used right. In moments like those, the mics seem like a god-send. But other times, you'll have a bunch of guys TALKING about other CRAP! THIS DOES NOT HELP THE TEAM! WHY DO I HAVE TO LISTEN TO YOU TALK ABOUT FAT BROADS AT YOUR SCHOOL? I DON'T CARE! It's times like that that make me angry that I can't mute ppl in NS.
your mic is not a telephone...don't use it as such!

When I go off by my own as a marine, it's almost always to go ahead and secure a location I can hold or even do a little scout work (if I happen to find an undefended resource tower, I call it out and do my best to take it down). If I think that I can distract the aliens by getting to their hive and tagging it so that many of them run back to see why it's flashing red, sometimes I'll go for that.
But I tend not to do such things if I'm needed elsewhere or if my commander tells me to do something. And in general I don't considering most anything I do DMing, since its always control of a region or something like that I'm concerned about, not simply frag hunting. If I can sneak in somewhere and cause some damage, I don't think that a playing style should be discounted if its effective.
After all, I'm somewhat tired of games where you have to worry about your frag ratio. NS is refreshing in part because you can really get into the teamplay and focus on that. That's one of the big reasons I like it.
(Doing something crazy once in a while like going 40-0 with a Fade is just a side bonus.)
