<div class="IPBDescription">new dimension ^^ [>WARNING: Pictures here<]</div>You know the commander view and mode in NS1.
Press Use button to "get" in the com. chair and you will see camera like in starcraft.

But why you not move realy into the chair?
Chair prop. animation (opening chair) -> your camera move into the chair -> and for now you are in the Chair -> Chair prop. animation (closing chair).
You have an Monitor in front of you and on this you see the custom camera like starcraft.
You have allways the cursor in the chair, by clicking on the two monitors, you change the views from players (maybe for peformence refresh all 2-4 secs.)
And <b>for all, they only want to see the "starcraft like" view, there is a button, who will zoom into the Monitor in front, so you can always change your view and see your classic view.</b>

The inside of the chair is only visible by commander.
But now you have a better feeling, 'You are IN the Battlefield and you are in the Com. Chair.

Hope you understand my broken english <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

Commander Chair you know:

New commander view:
(Only ugly concept)

UPDATE:
You can move the center monitor view by hit the arrows (move up, down, left and right)
or by scrolling withe the mouse over the border of the center monitor)
if you not in zoom mode (classic command view)
So the code is the same, if you in zoom mode you scroll by hit the border of the screen)

    Would look cool.

Would most likely not be used hardly at all though, as the cost of smaller command view would be to high for most people. :/

If im watching the screen, there is enough place for view the battlefield <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
But if not, you can zoom in and out (e.g. mousewheel)
I thinks this give you a great "im in the battlefield" feeling.

I hope its possible with lua code as mod.

    P.S. its a touchscreen...haha <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

I was actually thinking of this exact same thing the other day, minus the spectator monitors at the top. Would be mucho cool.

it looks cool, but i'd rather have my command view use my entire screen so i can see better tbh. unless you have a dual monitor set up...

This would be a great idea if it could be implemented in a great way. I'm thinking spec camera haxory.

I always liked the idea of an interactive 3D comm chair, to make it really feel 'real'. How cool would it be looking around your comm chair (with blinky lights here and there) while hearing skulks muffled chomps on the outside? It would be relatively quiet ambience inside, except for maybe the slight wuuur of the fan pulling air in the chair. When the health of the comm chair reaches yellow\red, alarms would start going off inside and maybe some sparks or something.

Hitting a button would zoom the command view to full screen, along with now being able to hear the battlefield like you do now in the chair. So if a commander got fatigued or the game was over, he could zoom out and just listen to the muffled sounds of his marines fighting to the death on the outside. Very cool idea, although I'd imagine functionality would take precedent over realism in the final product.

ya, thats what my idea is going to.
You are in the Battlefield <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />, this would be an awesome feeling.
Maybe you can click with mouse (cursor) on button zoom in the cc, so you don't need to hit an 'extra' button on the keyboard.

    New building?:
maybe the command can now buy cams(pice like turret), so hey can see the captured hives and don't lost them (if camera killed, the screen get noise)

Make it possible to have fullscreen ala classic (button/double click screen) and that's solved.

May I add some ideas to this?

    1) Chair View: Make it possible to have little slivers of windows which allow you to possibly glimpse what it going on outside your Commander Chair.

    2) Marine Screen: Reduce the size of screens for marine camera views to say "forum avatar pic" size aka tiny or small (what 50 x 50?), to allow for still having a sense of what they see but not allowing it to take away from the top down view.

    3) Marine Screen: Also, have two thin lines underneath the screens one red, one blue and one green, red for health, blue for armor, and green for ammo.

    4) Marine Screen: Add a short call sign (name) to the top in tiny text.

    5) Marine Screen: A blinking light or border if a request is made.

    6) Marine Screen: Screens Grouped by Assigned Fire Team Number, with number of assignment displayed.

    7) Marine Screen: A yellow light that turns on if they use a mic to speak.

Note: I am certain that having a commander have an idea of what you see as a grunt will hugely help them understand why you may not be building what they want (or whatever order given) when they see you looking down your sights at a Kharaa life form. Also, given what I have seen in Half-Life 2, the tiny view screens should be possible. That and it will just look cool and add atmosphere.

    8) Chair View: Add a red button or pull tab that has "EJECT" on it, one that glows more red with each vote against you.

    9) Marine Screen: Symbols showing indicating the grunt's current weapon and equipment load out.

Note: Yes, I am proposing adding the info you otherwise would get from hitting TAB to bring up the score screen back into the commander view.

    10) Chair View: When the chair is attacked, spurts of steam shoot from joints and the lights of the indicators and screens flicker.
