Inconceivable, it's Michael Bay. Hey, look! <a href="http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/transformers_the_movie/?beg=40&int=20&page=3" target="_blank">Rotten!</a> But Ebert gives it a thumb up, and I have never disagreed with him..

I saw it at Anime Expo.. the crowd was absolutely ridankulous. Legions of nerds (big theater) screaming in ecstasy at Megatron's classic lines. It was silly and fun.
I got to see the first half, right up to when it looked like it was going to get into the good stuff. But then the power flickered from a storm and shut everything off. A dude came and said it'd be 15 minutes before they had everything running again, then another guy came a bit later and said they would have to shut down and everyone should leave to get refund ticket vouchers. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
Was okay. The action sequences left me dizzy. Also funny how a race of evolved beings from another planet can travel light years to get to earth, but can't aim at a couple of human soldiers. One of the better eh movies.

The second part of the movie tanked abit, but up until that it was quite okay, it had alot of humor as well. Rofl@ the wolverine/freddy kruger nerd levels. In the end however, too much confusing action and "parading", too little sense. 3 stars out of 5 imo.

Bad and staying true to the formula: - Transformer design has way to much anime and matrix influence (full metal panic/tekkaman?) - Not enough transformer transform sounds, sounds more like the matrix sentinels - The camera action is way too shaky in the action scenes, looks like the camera man/program is on speed - Overall weird and annoying camera angels and framing, they are way to jumpy and busy
Good: - It does have some funny jokes - The story is not that bad, but then again its also not good (so WTH is it doing in this list <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> ) - BOOM explosions - Has good action scenes, but somehow don't give the transformer feeling as for the cam work (well see the bad list) - Optimus prime voice of course
Overall it has done what most "next generation" movies do. Screw up the old formula and introduce a new style and feeling to the old school original movie/serie as if the new director is trying to show what he can do (and then kills of the working formula). But underneath all that CGI and flashy action the core of the "new" movies usually don't have much substance and it looks like they are hiding this with the flashyness of things...
However, even though this movie has its flaws it also has a few good points (fanboys might want to kill me now <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> ) Yeah everyone reads reviews, but they are just that. A view from one person doing the review... Reviews on the internet are 80% of the time personal opinions and views. Every thing I just posted is pure observation and drawing conclusions...
In saying that, go see for yourself and then judge yourself (well at least in the case of remake movies)
The old cartoon was made to sell toys, you can't really screw up that kind of franchise. One thing I want to know is: did Prime say "DO A BARREL ROLL" like that vote said he would?

And the new movie isn't... Just type "transformer toys" in google and see the franchise. I'm just saying that in the movie they don't really look, move and behave like their original counterpart (apart from the jokes perhaps) Which pisses the fanboys off the most. But then again a redesign does have it's charm...

3 out of 5. Great CGI, shallow story. The last half of the movie wasn't very good compared to the first half. The whole camaro car sequences were pretty entertaining. The action sequences were confusing due to the camerawork. Would have liked to see a much more epic battle between prime and megatron. I think the 'disturbia' guy did a great job, although I think his love interest was a bad choice. They kept flogging you with the fact that she was hot hot hot throughout the whole movie, and it was getting a little irritating *que slow mo camera flyby of her in danger with mouth agape*.

Apparently (not seen it yet) but there's at least one racial stereotyping moment so bad, that the character in question might as well have a chicken wing in one hand, and a watermelon in the other...
I saw it in the cinema on its opening day and I was extremely impressed by the first half of the movie. I thought it was so damn interesting and I was dying to see the transformers up-close. The rest of the film was good but there was some stupid dialog here and there, the camera absolutely sucked during the action scenes, and we didn't get enough dialog between the Decepticons.
I thought it was FECKING AWESOME <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
I do however agree that there should have been a better showndown between Optimus and Megatron <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

I was looking for the real life transformer (little transformer on table) Which I porobably saw posted here some time ago, don't know for sure so here's that little guy

Then I found a comment about Garbotron. Garbotron should've been in the movie IMHO <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
I have to say, not being a HUGE transformers fan. i mean i knew about them, and op.. and megatron etc, but thats about it.. i thought it was made of pure. unadulterated win. absolutely awesome.
fantastic music. <3'ing the new disturbed track.
Fantastic script imo, it mixed funny, and managed to not drift TOO far from the story. entertaining "aww" scenes with bumblebot
