Metal Gear Solid 4 Gameplay Video

<div class="IPBDescription">Fifteen Minutes of "Holy Freaking Crap"</div>You guys as well as anyone should know how huge of a PC fanatic I am. I've never owned any consoles and I can't imagine I ever will. That doesn't mean I don't know really pretty stuff when I see it. <a href="http://www.fileshack.com/file.x/10876/Metal+Gear+Solid+4:+Guns+of+the+Patriots+Presentation" target="_blank">Fifteen minutes of Alzheimers-flavored Solid Snake in a warzone</a> is something everyone should see. Sure, it's got approximately 2 more colors in the entire video than Gears of War, which is unfortunate, but if you want colors you can always play Viva Pinata. Highlights include Snake on his back in a heavy firefight lobbing a grenade over his shoulder and the cute/wobbly stylings of Metal Gear Mk. II which completely obliterates any fear that anyone has ever attached to the Metal Gear name.

Mostly I'm just excited about the graphics. The gameplay looks pretty interesting, I guess, for MGS fans, but I've always preferred Splinter Cell/NOLF/Thief for my stealth needs, mostly because for everything MGS does awesome it seemed to do something totally weird, but hey. The video is PRETTY.

    The cloaking is quite silly..

'Oh, there's a human body with the pattern of the tiles all over it, I guess it's nothing - moving on' :/

Yes it's not supposed to be realistic, but still..

That said, it looks like it has some interesting game mechanics, and it does indeed look pretty.

I also loved how they went on about the drums.. especially how it resisted bullets better than the box - as if Snake has upgraded his inventory of gadgets to now include a drum instead of a box.

As much as I love NOLF and Thief (but not Splinter Cell), MGS2 and 3 are much better than them from a gameplay perspective. They're just so much more polished, versatile and <i>elegant</i> than any other game in the "stealth genre". It's worth acquiring the PC version of MGS2, if only for the VR missions - they've got all of the action from the main game, but none of the weirdness.

Much like Sam Fisher's three green lights and Garret's tap shoes, it's a concession for gameplay. It wouldn't be any good if Snake was so well hidden that the <i>player</i> couldn't see him.

I always said "Metal Gear Solid 4 isn't enough to warrant getting a PS3. We've had the same game three times now."

I guess it's time for foot in mouth.

Wow, that was really effn great!

Seeing as it was actually pointed out to you verbally that it was a PS3 controller, and that the Metal Gear Mk II hovered in front of Snake for a bit to let you get a good long look at the PS3 controller, it's pretty much assumed that yes, we all noticed it, thanks.

<b><u>MGS4 BETTER HAVE A SANDBOX MODE.</u></b> Or if you want, call it a "map editor".

I am sure many of you want one too. Don't you love it after you beat the game, and you get stealth camo, you get to screw around with the guards.

I loved doing that, screw around with the guards and killing them and random stuff.

It's all fun, but I wish there was something more. Like how about being able to create 40 guards in an area and giving Snake unlimited health?

I want to make this post much longer with more examples of what a sandbox mode could do but you get the point. If you played MGS and got stealth camo for snake, you should know why I want a sandbox mode for MGS4.

<b>Edit, Making this post longer and this part of the section is those to who played MGS3 online:</b>

I also want all MGS3 and MGSPO characters to be unique characters in MGS4 online, there should definitely be sneaking mode in MGS4 too.

Personally, I thought MGS3 online sucked for too many things to list.

    But I had fun by:
    1. Hosting games myself (being able to make up your own rules, kick cheaters, etc)

    2. Playing Sneaking mode(1v7, Snake versus everyone else).

The problem with MGS3 online was the fact that it didn't really feel like a "team" game due to the fact it was limited to 8 players only and there were usually stackers all the time(5v3). In Sneaking mode, it changed things.

    3. Play Sneaking mode on "Mountaintop map". This is the best map for sneaking mode simply because it's small, Snake can't hide and camp and statcap all day long due to the small map.

    4. Play with unique characters enabled, enough said.

Unfortunately, the MGS3 online servers closed a few months ago so you can't do all these things in case you owned MGS3: Subsistence but try it in MGS4 in case you think it sucks.

    F*************************************** petco why did you have to go and say it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

I was hoping myself for a MGS1 VR/MGS2 substance set of like 300 extra levels... but a SANDBOX MODE?

You know Hideo would never do that... :/

I don't really know much about him<i>(AKA I don't really read much interviews or anything about him)</i> though why wouldn't he?

A Sandbox mode would add <b>epic</b> replay value to MGS4.

Heck, I clocked about over 60 hours worth of just screwing around with stealth camo and guards in MGS3, <b>imagine the extra time I would play MGS3 if it had a sand box mode</b>.

Also, MGS3 takes about 15-20 hours to beat and I probably played MGS3 a total of 90 hours. 15 hours from beating the game the first time. 15 hours of beating the game 3 more times to unlock various things like stealth camo. And 60 hours of just screwing around with my unlocked items like stealth camo and unlimited ammo.

Note: When bored, I played MGS3 for about 1-2 hours at a time for several months. I didn't play MGS3 for 60 hours in a row or anything like that.

For the record: I thought Stealth Action was a genre getting a little tired.

I have now seen the light.

I'm still debating between the big two consoles at the moment, and I have to admit I'm seeing more and more that's making the PS3 look more attractive.

I'll keep hoping for a Christmas price drop this year, which might swing it either way for me. It's still a little too pricy for a console, but getting there.

One question remains... will it have a worldwide release date, or will us Euros have to wait a bazillion years as usual? I guess its win-win either way as I'll have time for the PS3 to drop into my price range. Maybe.

Because the small arms fire, air support and mortars were actually waking the dead.

Either that or the enemies were scripted to not turn around.

My first clue-in to that was how tranquilizer shots to the body caused instant KO.

True, it must have been on easy. On MGS2 and 3: very easy and easy difficulties is instant knock out from a Tranquilizer.

On normal and above, it takes a few seconds before the guards fall asleep(depends on where you shoot him).
