Role Change?

<div class="IPBDescription">Is it just me or have the teams changed?</div> When I read about NS it stated that the aliens would be focused more on individual alien heroics and the marines would have to work together as a team perfectly to defeat them. I have found that the opposite is true. If the aliens don't work together perfectly then the marines dominate. Before you flame here is my reasoning:

1) Skulks are faster marines with knives who can run up walls if they don't attack in groups they get dominated
2) 1 Heavy armor marine sends all the aliens running
3) There has to be a lerk using Umbra while the fade attacks from within the cover of the umbra and a gorge heals to do any real damage. If that isn't team work I don't know what is =P

The only real way an alien can make marines scared is with an onos, and of course by that time the game is already over. Every game I've played has had the aliens being terrified and the marines being the evil bad guys. It's just like the movies, only backwards.

you have to use teamplay in both teams if you want to survive, but you're less dependent of your team as an alien (you can see all the others and the buildings, you have your own resources etc)

I have to disagree. Aliens can win if they have good players playing well on their own fields, while marines need to play well together. Alien individual skulk have to play well to stop the marines, but thats all useless, if the gorges aren't doing their job correctly. But they don't have to know about eachothers. Thats not true about marines.

    **obscenity**

Damn fades scare me even if I have HA/HMG or HA/Shotty.

I hate 'em. Aliens dont need any Onos to win lol

a heavy armour marine is toast unless he works with his team. if he runs off by himself he may gert a kill or three but eventually with no welding his armour will go and he'll be dead. utter waste of 50 rps. with a group of three HA + HMG + welder marines working together they can be pretty much unstoppable.

No, i think the aliens = independant, marines = teamwork still holds true. One fade can kill LOTS of marines, even multiple HA/HMGs in a row if hes good, and skulks can take out lone marines one after another. Aliens do well even by themselves. Sure, to take out a big installation the aliens need teamwork, but if the marines want to survive more than 2 minutes they have to go in groups.

I'd have to disagree ... seems aliens are winning the majority of the games, which to me says that marines are more dependent on team work, which is a rare thing on the net, so it happens less often, so the marines win less often.

In other words, teamwork is the key no matter which side you play, but evidence shows that aliens stand a better chance when the players don't play as a team.

Let me tell you this, One Skulk can stop the Marines but one Marine can not stop the Aliens(Unless he's Rambo with a Weilder who ices the Hives)

I played a Game of Cage a week back we had "Darth Toast" as a skulk outside the Doors, He went down with a 47-2 Score ok? He Ate every single Marine who walked out of the spawn, Only by going in groups of Five or more could they survive, He Was Godlike, He was not cheating thats for sure, He had Carpence and a great agility, When they got HA he STILL dominated because by then we had Leap, it was nasty, half the team would rush in and die and he waited right outside and ate any marines who poked thier heads out

(I kid you not he went from Floor to Roof to side with two leaps and number 3 was to Eat you)

Heh, its true, and the tactics get better, the games get better.

But I have been seeing a lot of 2 hive victory's recently. I play gorge a lot, and I'm happily building away, just start the 3rd hive, and the endgame music plays! .... I wanted some meat!

Meh, the marines are constantly gettting better as well. The game is getting more balanced, not because of patch fixes, but because people are just learning how to play the game.

Cheers Coil, I agree wholeheartedly... perhaps more folks will begin to realize that the true balance of this game resides between the chair and the keyboard than any patches or "bug fixes".

Some people take a bit to long on how to learn to play, but everybody has to learn sooner or later.

One of the last games I was in a few days ago (haven't played for about 2-3 days). There was only like 2-3 excellent people in the server. 2 other guys and myself, felt good to be point man of a fresh team of marine recruits lol.

The marines ended up winning. Thx god for the commander who gave me the shotgun at the beginning because I nicely and camly asked for it.

The commander was so-so new and not new at commanding. Despite our skill differences my marine team ended up winning. Sometimes it only takes one person to make a big difference. That personally eventually turned out to be me. Wooo, just like that veteran in a war movie who knows what to do while his recruits are lost.

I said follow me and 3 of 'em followed me. Woo, now that's respect and teamwork. Another funny thing was that we hardly had any turrets and we still knocked out the aliens!

A GG it was. Maybe i'll play some NS again later tonight, but until then.
    Peace out
