More strategy for the Kharaa

As a team game, it seems to me the only decisions the Kharaa have few strategic choices. They can choose which chamber to drop, and afterwards (maybe) what hive to build.
Which hive to build is usually decided for the team by the enemy, and chambers are always Movement first. DC if you have onos and fades, SC otherwise. Done.
Anyways, this is my idea...
Instead of 3 chambers, have 5.
Instead of each chamber giving you 3 upgrades, give 2.
You can still only build 3 hives.
We could shuffle around some of the current powers for effect as well as balancing new powers to provide valid choices. For example, leave sensory chambers as is, but trade away Focus. I never thought of focus as a cloaking, sensing type of skill anyway!
This way, you would have to make a choice as a team on what combination of chambers to get, and every game could be different as some chambers would never make it into the game.
I guess you'd lose out on being able to rely on the same upgrades every game, but I think the variety and 'adaptation' would be worth it.

It seemed like if there wasn't for the patches, I recall there always being a clearly dominate strategy that would most likely have everyone else ripping into you if you did anything different. Not much fun, really.
I really hope NS2 has enough variables to put the NS1 cookie cutter strategems to rest, permanently. The most fun I remember with NS1 surrounded the earliest versions, coming up with strategies on the fly, it was a total blast!

This isn't always true, I have seen a lot of people (especially on European servers, namely the french guys) start with SCs first, it is a little harder to win (from experience) but the marines can often spend more time worrying about putting up Ops and Motion Tracking so they can see the enermy again. I also played a string of games on the BAD clan server where DCs were put up at the start (at everyone’s annoyance) and all the games were won, one after another, excpet one (I think) where we were rushed.
SCs first can often create alot of infighting on the marines team, especially if the commander isn't paying attention. This can be used to the aliens advantage, to create a little more time to cap more RTs while commanders are being kicked out or shouted at. However I recently played a game where the Marines heard us talking and believed we had put up SCs and concentrated on getting Motion Tracking, the funny thing was we hadn't put up SCs, we had just put up MCs. So maybe people should try putting up MCs as usual and just press your “say” (NOT team say) button at the start of the game after a decision has been made and type something like: “Dropping SCs!” or “Can someone drop more SCs please!!!!!!”
Other fun things to say on “say” are:
“I’m dropping the 3rd hive”, after about 5mins into a game.
“I’m cloaked in the marines start!!!!!”, when you aren’t. (do this after about 2 minuets) The marines will search the whole room looking for you.
“ONOS TIME!!!!!” As soon as anyone reaches 40 res. The marine team might actually believe that someone has got enough resources for an ONOs.
Remember to put a smiley face or something on “team say” so your team knows you haven’t achieved these difficult goals.
