<div class="IPBDescription">researchable self-destructions for marine buildings</div>by owning an arms lab the marines can research "self destruction mode" with it
the research costs ~15 resources and takes ~1 minute
as soon as its researched <b>all</b> marine buildings gain the capability to destroy themself. like theres a small bomb inside which the commander can make explode. (an extra button is added to the commander-menu, next to the "recycle" one e.g.)
the selfdestruction itself costs 2res and takes 1second to complete. it destroys the building and all <i>nearby</i> lifeforms+structures are getting damaged with 200 hitpoints. and a short sound would be nice as soon as the 1sec starts running, like "beep-beep-beep" <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
<b>the short datas:</b>
available for: marines
unlockable at: armslab
unlock costs: 15res
unlocked after: 1min
<i>when unlocked..:</i>
available for: all marine buildings
costs for use: 2res
time for use: 1sec
effect: destroys the building that used the self-destruction aswell as damages all <i>nearby</i> lifeforms+structures with 200 hitpoints
all numbers are only suggestions to show how it could work.
i hope to see something like that in an upcoming NS version <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Something like a space laser shooting the structure ( omfg ? ), or just a transformation, a " mutation " of the building, into a bomb. With an animation like... omg do you speak french ? :x The building would " unbuild " ( just imagine the ANIMATION when the building is deploying, and play it backward ), and continue the unbuilding until it looks like a small barrel or another high-tech bomb style. Just imagine that the "recycled" materials are combined to do a chimical bomb.
Anyway, it's future xD
Gotta eat, just tell me if you don't understand what i'm saying, and i'll try with a dictionary. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
And that is a nifty idea.
However I have to be honest that the entire thing seems slightly pointless.
We have mines, and GLs, and Sieges. a Building nuking it self just is NOT worth the res.
Did you know the english language has borrowed words from many other languages, french not being the least of them. You're coming in far clearer than many a leet speak shorthand that we put up with on a daily basis on the internet. Sometimes I'd rather try to understand Mandarin Chinese Characters or Russian Crylic then leet speak short hand.
As far as turning a marine structure into a bomb, I think it would be an interesting option. Plus, the more expensive or inexpensive a structure is it should do damage scaled to that, for risk vs reward. Sure you just lost that cheap structure but you barely scratched the buggers, but that expensive arms lab just cleared the room ... and you just lost all your upgrade programs and schematics. Way to go, genius. Noob com, eject, eject! =)
Plus, the self destruct mechanism should be a means of desperation, not a replacement for the mines.
If anything, I want to upgrade those mines and use those instead.

Mhh, Of course we've got all those things, but being able to manually trigger an auto destruction can be useful.
Killing an alien ( gorge ? Skulk ? maybe lerk or a fade on phasegate ), using lowcost structures as traps ( maybe a totally new structure, an triggerable mine activable by the commander ), whatever you want.
This can be powerful. But maybe too much ( because all aliens are melee aliens ), so it could unbalance the game.
But it's not pointless, imo <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
but i think this would allow a lot of new tactics and strategic options.
it doesn't really fit - maybe only the comm chair can have this upgrade - except for the one you start in or something.

what if the RT is under attack? you start researching elec? smart.
what if you lose an outpost? the TF and PG are down already, what you doing with the remaining buildings (e.g. sentrys)? oh yea - recycle them, beacuse they'll be recycled before the aliens destroyed it.
there are tons of situations you'd thank god for having self-destruction mode researched and available. at the latest when you blow a fade up
its just stupid saying its useless and comparing it with mines, elec or even with a GL

for starters i would never thank a fictional being, i choose to thank science. and 2nd no need to be sarcastic, i'm just providing you with some feedback - if you want ONLY positive feedback then make your own forum where you are the only member so you give yourself praise over and over again. If you talk to people like they are cr4p (even on the internet) then get used to being treated like cr4p back.
of course you wouldnt hit electrify - although on a res node sometimes you would - one skulk would only get it down to about 1/3 of its total health before electrify kicks in.
Think about how the game works. Would you seriously spend 15 res on making a building explode so it might kill two skulks - giving you back 4 res. Or would you just save that res to build a new version of that building. Or spending it on a HMG which has the potential to kill much more (in the right hands).
Of course, for an important building it could cost more, but for a sentry i could cost, i don't know... 4 res.
Phase gate ? 7 res.
And then i think it's becoming a better idea.
plus - like i already said before - all numbers are only suggestions to make it easier for you to understand the concept
and i do not care about negativ feedback, for as long as its established. but you are criticizing stuff that had <b>never</b> been suggested in this topic, criticizing datas that had never been made, criticizing stuff without understanding its meaning, (etc)
and now i remember why i stopped posting on the official forums a while ago.
i finally just hope a dev or atleast a person who has an idea of the game reads this topic before its totally destroyed by some people who are just talking nonsens. (not all of you <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> )
over 'n out.
Another thing could be gasses released from chambers in hives, so you have to have HA to enter the hive without takin damage, just like the lerk gas, however it is counter balanced by the marines having special vision in the gas so they can see and it is hard for aliens to navigate in the gas when they use it or somn... *shrug*
The commander [or a team vote on the alien side] would decide to use them or not. The aliens could also just gather, and if a certain percentage get to a hive to activate a bio weapon [5 aliens?] then they could use it.
I could see this making games a little too quick in the end, so if that's too big of a problem then nevermind. But larger weapons would be great in any capacity! Not just "guns" but in a gas form, or man made. Not neccesarily for these ideas either-
Let the winners win, and the losers lose, I say.
Buy mines and put them around the building.
OR WAIT< LETS ADD ROCKETZ LAUNCHERZ AND LAZORS AND TANKZ!!!! INFACT LETS MAKE NUKES THAT IF THE MARINES BUY YOU WIN.
im just sick of kids asking for stupid ######. (not that you did, yours was valid, i just vented onto you)
Die slow.
I gave you a heart BTW, since you need one. You ruthless ######! heh
