<div class="IPBDescription">Advice</div>Ok so iv'e currently got a 2Ltr Astra CDX, body kit, 17" alloys, lowered, all that crap.

Now currently its leaking water/oil, the front bumper is smashed on 1 side, the interior lights and ariel no longer work, it was flooded in all the floods, engine mounts have gone and to top it off the drivers side window no longer works.

Now its my first year of driving, currently had my insurance for 7 months.

Would you take the plunge and buy a expensive new car (Type R), fix up my current car, or buy a tat banger to see me through.

Iv'e just passed my probation at work so i'm full time have no commitments as such i could afford to run and buy a fairly new ish Type R.

My only concerns are my insurance on a Type R being i'm 22 and currently paying 1.4k a year on a 12 year old astra.

Suggestions?

Don't buy new cars. Ever. You will be charged so much more then the car should be worth, and the second you drive it off the lot it magically becomes worth $5000 less.
As strange as it sounds, look for used cars on Craigs-List. Honestly, you can find plenty of nice cars at stupid low prices. I picked up a '95 Ford Taurus (Not NICE I know, that's not the point) that was never driven (it has ~40k miles on it) for $1500. It had belonged to the guys dad who never drove, and died just recently (not in the car luckily). Deals like that are easy to find. Im sure you can find a decent used car (lots of people sell cars they modified as well, if that's what you are into) for half of what you would pay for it new.

Edit: And if you buy a cheap car and modify it to work that much better you are totally good in my book. People who buy pre-modified or just pay someone else to modify their car are lame.
