in NS2 General Discussion
I was just wondering that is NS 2 going to be shipped also in retail boxes? IT would be awesom to have NS 2 box in my gameshelf. I'm sure I would be ordering even though I live in Europe. You could also make similar arragement as Introvision software made as they shipped DEFCON, you could download it first from Steam and box would arrive later on.

I apologise if there is another topic and for possible typos. But anyways, think about it.

    If ns2 doesnt get into retail shops, they could still make the dvd case cover and have the image on the site, then all we need to do is print it out and put it on a blank case <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

    But the quality would be suckier than a 100% original handmade (well..almost) case with the even awesomer Skulk feasting on marine fingers, while being shot at by another marine with a pistol on the frooont! <3

    The plan right now is just for digital distribution; there's less risk when nobody has to pritn up thosuands and thousands of discs, manuals, and boxes and ship them off to stores to see if they sell or not.

    i luv ns too of couse though i'm not dedicated to game boxes ;d im ok with online-only distribution, i even prefer steam over boxed games, for them i have to get the fixed version so i dont need to carry my game discs where ever i go and want to play o.o ( i do understand that it wont affect ns anyway, yes )
    maybe UWE could for exaple give out posters cupons, and contract some company to print them and send to customers maybe a separate company in europe so we can get it easier here ;d , not only posters maybe some other accessories or clothes, and ppl could buy more if the cupon was not enough :> ,id like to see a wallpaper/theme for my pda from UWE <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> thanks

    It can't hurt sales when it wouldn't ever be put in a box.

    If it was as easy as walking up to a Publisher and going "publish my game", he'd be there. Even if he had a VERY polished product though, getting someone to put money into NS would be nigh impossible with the industry's landscape today.

    Just have your credit card company give you one of those temporary CC numbers for buying stuff online. Put $30 on the card, spend the $30, and you're done. Even if Valve decided to max out your account and face a gigantic lawsuit, they'd get $0.00.

    also digital distro is only the begining though, if the game sells like hot soup on a cold day then no doubt some publisher will take notice and will want to do business

    i wouldnt worry about giving your cc number to a reliable source such as valve, if they charge you for something you didn't order call your bank and let them sort it out <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> - seeing as credit is the banks money they will want to get their money back.

    its the no name sites you have to look out for - thats where paypal comes in handy
