The latest release isn't as great as 0.145 or lower in my opinion. Now, the game can end in 3 minutes because the gorges don't build sensory chambers or offensive chambers and so I destroy their hives directly. Please re-implement the crazy building (or at least some of it) so that the games take a longer time and are more satisfying at the end. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
To solve the problem of too many Gorges, you could say they have a percentage chance per several seconds to change to a different form, based on factors such as how many of that form currently exist, what form that specific bot has tended to be in the past, etc. Figure out how a human decides to change, then try and use that basic algorithm.

I haven't told bots to specifically walk up walls but I've added wall stick waypoints in the next version which can be connected to places where the bot can go up the wall.

They can but they waste their resources too much, gonna try fixing it but not much till a later release.
First off I love this bot! It really helps get people on the server and most people don't even realize that they're bots! Secondly when's the next update coming out? I don't mean to sound pushy but when? LOL. I think that the Marine bots are great. They follow orders, build stuff, defend other players/buildings, and have amazing aim. The aliens on the other hand are far more limited in scope. They generally don't explore. Too many of them turn into gorges. They build way too many sensory towers. They don't go for other hives. Overall they don't pose any significant threat to a team of marines. Maybe they need some strategy code. For example have the gorges build a OC at every intersection to impede the marines, or for every 2 OC's that are built they build 1 DC. I find DC's much more useful in the beginning of the game over SC. It helps the skulks live a little longer. Well that's just my 2 cents. Great work and I'm just giving you some constructive criticism. Thanks!

You can use bot commands while connected to a dedicated server in game by using the allow_player/disallow_player commands now, and some more neat commands you can find in the readme.txt

Hopefully they should explore a bit more, I found a bug where the bots would hang about the same hive at the start and they just stayed there. I just tried out your new version, and there are a few things I noticed... They don't get stuck on walls much anymore, and they seem to navigate the map pretty well now, but it looks like they forgot how to open doors, They just sit there jumping by the door without trying to press the button... It stops them from exploring the rest of the map...
Also, I dont know about anyone else, but the bot messages get pretty repetitive to me, They keep asking for a turret factory over and over and over, even though you have built two of them right beside them.... <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--> The bot messages are a pretty cool addition, but when they say "res where i am" and you have no clue which bot said it to you, and having no way to jump to them.. It's like when real players in game are asking for ammo by typing it instead of using the voice messages, It's frustrating and annoying...

I take it you're talking about the doors in ns_bast and the lift (mainly) I've noticed that only with them, because theres some problem with the map, for some reason the buttons are either huge or in the wrong place that they should be in (theire origins are strange so I don't know where the buttons actually are).

Although I think the marines need sme little touches in their behaviour,its the aliens that need all the work in navigation.

I haven't told bots to specifically walk up walls but I've added wall stick waypoints in the next version which can be connected to places where the bot can go up the wall.

They can but they waste their resources too much, gonna try fixing it but not much till a later release.

I have just released it wo0t <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> But its quite a bit of a test version because I haven't tried it on a real server just a listen server. You can use bot commands while connected to a dedicated server in game by using the allow_player/disallow_player commands now, and some more neat commands you can find in the readme.txt

Hopefully they should explore a bit more, I found a bug where the bots would hang about the same hive at the start and they just stayed there. One way theres also another go into the ns folder e.g c:\sierra\half life\ns
and go into ur bot.cfg and there should be inscructions to do it there basicy if u dont know the ones with # are commands which aren't executed by the game so if u remove those # next to the addbots at the bottom they will auto join server u can add more for example but 12 addbots in for a 13/13 game since ur a player urself
I just tried out your new version, and there are a few things I noticed...
They don't get stuck on walls much anymore, and they seem to navigate the map pretty well now, but it looks like they forgot how to open doors, They just sit there jumping by the door without trying to press the button... It stops them from exploring the rest of the map...
Also, I dont know about anyone else, but the bot messages get pretty repetitive to me, They keep asking for a turret factory over and over and over, even though you have built two of them right beside them.... <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
The bot messages are a pretty cool addition, but when they say "res where i am" and you have no clue which bot said it to you, and having no way to jump to them.. It's like when real players in game are asking for ammo by typing it instead of using the voice messages, It's frustrating and annoying...
I've also noticed that gorges seem to be more offensive then skulks... <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to make a bot for us NS players, I thought this mod would be too complicated to make bots for....

I take it you're talking about the doors in ns_bast and the lift (mainly) I've noticed that only with them, because theres some problem with the map, for some reason the buttons are either huge or in the wrong place that they should be in (theire origins are strange so I don't know where the buttons actually are).
