The Most Annoying Marine Request

The most common requests have to be shotgun/mines at the beginning and HMG/HA half way thru, As a commander I am hesitatant to drop shotguns for my team in the very beginning.. Why? Case in point.. Built 2 Inf. Portals, armory and then said "ok guys im gonna try a new tactic, 2 shotties, everyone stay togeather, pick up that shotgun if it drops.. Few seconds later I had other people asking for shotguns.. umm no follow the guy with the shotgun if you want one.. two only..
Ok so we moved in a the node, the closest one to base, this should be no problem to defend/secure especially since its right next to the base and we have 2 shotguns.. Well about 10 mins later we finally have that node nailed down and the shotguns didn't help jack, in fact I think I lost more people because they were trying to get to that last shotgun drop spot and not trying to kill the aliens.. Ok so that experiment was a complete failure.. If someone knows how to use a shotgun, I mean really really knows how.. then dropping it on them in a crowd of a few marines should be extremely beneficial.

Mines.. Mines are kinda inexpensive and pretty good defense if used properly.. One small problem 90% of the marines have no clue how to use a mine, but some will ask for it over and over.. I once had this guy spend the entire first 10 to 20 mins of the round begging for mines, so I started giving them to him, I must have given out almost 60 to 80 Rp worth of mines.. I mean seriously there were trip laser lights everywhere within 25 yards of our base.. then here come some fades and BOOM, BOOM,BOOM all mines gone, lost a few marines, total diaster// ok no more mines.. I will drop one/two but thats about it until we get 2 hives and I know for sure there are no Fades coming.. then I will give them out like candy.

Those are probably the most annoying, there are others but not so annoying request.. Like the constant request to get upgrades or motion tracking.. Look guys motion tracking is sweet, but vs. Fades/onos its not gonna help you any..
    Anyways you get the point...

For the most part, yes, shotguns belong in the hands of a good soldier. Having a poor one pick up your shotty and run off and die alone can be too big of a risk in some games. Myself, I'm good with the shotty and like it fine. But against skulks I'll use the lmg instead to save resources. Mostly because I don't want to bother the commander.

However, I'll definately request a shotgun if I see a buildup of offensive turrets. I'll usually tell the comm that it's for clearing structures. Shotties are very good weapons for that purpose, especially before the HMG is available. And the fact that you can nail a skulk in a single hit is just a nice little bonus.

actually motion tracking is sweet regardless. If you can tell its an ono moving towards you..run

most fade players will fight till they're low on health then run with their tail between their legs. Motion sensing will most of the time help you recognize when a fade is fleeing to heal. Thats when you take a fade out with a lightmachine gun. Lightmachine guns are good enought in begining. I dont see a reason to buy several shotguns unless you know someone is good with it. A fully loaded light gun can take out 2+ alien buidlings. In the beginning, I dont think aliens have the chance to build a wall of lame to need a more powerful gun for.

"I need a HMG and Heavy Armour at base please"

The most annoying phrase to hear. My usual reply

"No, go away, learn to use the LMG"

    Didn't think Fades had tails.

Motion tracking is good because ... well, it's a wallhack for moving Kharaa. If I see a single blue circle trotting its way slowly around the corner to where I know a resource nozzle is, I'm going to wait for it to disappear (Gorge stops moving and builds) then step in and empty my pistol clip into the tubby little guy.

And if I see a whole horde of blue circles sudden start moving towards our "secured" second hive, I'm getting in that phase gate pronto. Then a little bit of GL-spam lovin' around the corner into the projected path of said blue circles, and play Count-The-Corpses.

I must be misusing the shotguns, I never do very well with them. I once had to blast a gorge, without defencive structure healing, about 5 times before it went down. The blood splats made it look like I hit with about 6-8 fragements each time too.

The Kharaa will just enjoy the Pony dessert after they eat you.

Well, about the gorge thing...at what intervals did you blast it? Like did you blast, strafe, retreat to Jamaca and do it again? Cause 6-8 fragments would equal 60-80 dmg and a Gorge any has 100 Hp and like 70 Armor. Maybe it had Regeneration or it had D chambers out of your sight. Or maybe it wasn't 6-8 fragments...

He would have heard the healing sound if their were D chambers... though regeneration is a possibilty.
