Original movement ideas

As the title of this thread says, state original movement ideas for marines/aliens (don't have to be for NS1 aliens) which haven't been done before or haven't been done enough.
Jet propulsion - An airplane life form like I suggested with the tube worm. It'd be very original and extremely fun to play.
Rocket jump - Use projectiles to gain negative horizontal & vertical speed at the expense of hp/energy. 'd be cool for one of the aliens' generic movement abilities.
Bunnyhop - You all know it, keep it in NS2 <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
Rowing/snaking - Hold down A and D in succession to gain speed forward, snake life form?

I do kinda wish the lerk isn't the only flying creature in NS2, but I suck so bad... hehe

Maybe these two could be put together, like whatever direction you are pointing, by using keys [like mastering the flapping of the lerk], you can spring in directions, the skulk already has a jump though, so dunno...

Bunny hopping around entire levels is retarded, they need to put some sort of system into place where hopping takes away energy. So that way you can use it, but not all day long. try standing in place and jumping, could you really do that for 18 hours? No. Maybe a minute, then you would have to rest. Hopping is fine, but doing it forever is ######.
i dont know i dont want it to be too colplicated and i dont want it to be exsploited. i jsut thing kharaa should hear marines comeing before marines hear kharaa comeing, other wise the marine just stops ducks and hides and gets the ranged ambush in everytime.
I don't mind being louder than when your walking, just as long as it isn't unrealisticaly so (that being said, I think the hear distances for most sounds in NS are significantly shorter than what is realistic). Also the idea of dropping a clip, well just imagine 5 people doing it at once, it would be a pretty goofy sight, and annoying to the extreme. But I do see where you're coming from, and I think it's important to make anything making Marines faster balanced (like the railcar, which is a part of the map, and therefor may be used by Kharaa, may only go to certain areas of the map, and cant fit a whole team)
When a marine sprints in NS2; he should have unlimited Stamina, and also be able to shoot his gun.
However, when a marine is sprinting, his accuracy is reduced drastically. This way, if you really want to fight, you must stop sprinting and proceed cautiously, but you still have a chance to defend yourself if your caught off-guard. Also, it would take some sort of delay between when you stop sprinting, and when your accuracy returns to normal.
I think its a good compromise.
It's "book it" .....
Although I do like the idea of being able to book it, either towards or away from the action. I get scared sometimes so I run like crazy.
Only problem I can see with being able to book it somewhere is early game. Marines book it to a hive, and get the lock down faster than the aliens can get rid of them.
rocket jump = fade
bhop = skulk
So they are already spoken for really.
The snake left/right for speed sounds kind of cool though
the 'booking' (ie sprinting) described in one of the podcasts isnt too bad. you'd get ambushed early in the game if you tried and if the weapon set-up time is decent you and the whole squad would die to 1 skulk (as it should be).
wiggle walking, wall strafing, bhop, marine silent bhop from ns are concepts to think about too.
some other movement ideas which particular aliens could use/activate:
hookshotting (spider man style)
sliding (ie a low friction mode that is fast but difficult to steer)
'blinking' or teleporting - moves you to the piece of ground/wall/ceiling you click on, maybe only usable in infested areas
piggybacking? - perhaps some alien with vines or something can latch onto other aliens
rolling, not very practical however
I dare you to say that to Samus...
Anywho, I do like the idea of "hookshotting." I know it isn't a desired method of movement, but perhaps it could be an alternate method of transportation (ala leap) for another life form (ideally, one that moves slowly on ground, no wall climbing abilities.)
rocket jump = fade

I 100% agree,
I think it would be cool if skulks had this snake-like/zig-zaggin movement as an alternative to bhopping. It would also help beginners, because it's a lot more intuitive

someway of carrying a gorge, like Lerk-lift but less buggy would be good in my opinion. But in those modded servers I always find they like to pick you up and drop you in lava and stuff. The teleporting on infestation would solve this issue tho maybe it could be a special ability for gorges?
oh god no
rocket jump = fade
bhop = skulk

Maybe this is just nitpicking but I would say it's:
rocket jump = skulk(leap)
bhop = fade(since blinking is moving quickly for sustained periods with aircontrol)

I think this sounds really cool, although I don't know how it would look in game. Functionally it would be the same as the marines sprint with a cooler animation plus the ability to attack while snaking.
Edit: I also agree that marines should be able to fire but with increased cone of fine while booking it.
Alternatively: Hold down enigma to accelerate.

Would be such an awesome upgrade, allow marines to chain like 5 jumps at a time.
Well, that and a knife range upgrade.
MOAR:
An alien which usually moves slowly but can leap off the bat with a relatively short delay between leaps, leaps do many damages.
Shuffling - lol, zombies
Also, I wouldn't really want to speculate on what lifeform gets which upgrades.
