Thoughts On Friendly Fire

<div class="IPBDescription">Grenades</div> As strange as it seems, i'm getting paticuarely annoyed by the grenade launchers in NS.. just observing matches atm, the amount of grenades that are being fired off is silly. I dont mind grenade spaming normally, but its when they are fired at _ones own team mates_ that it gets annoying.
i know theres the whole 'oh no more friendly fire it dissipates before hitting yadda yadda' stuff in the manual, but personally i dont think this is very realistic at all, i KNOW this is a game with buggy aliens and Seige cannons sci fi etc.. but i just dont think this is on for Game balance. A Grenade EXPLODES and EXPLOSIONS hurt. Even with no Shrapnel, the heat alone would severaly hurt an unarmored soldier, and would een hurt a HA'ed one.. Not only that, but the shockwave would also cause damage. These things couldnt be 'dissipated' before hiting, they are immaterial.
Maybe i'm just thinking into this a bit much, but for the sake of Balamce.. either remove this grenade explosion friendly fire thing, or at least give token damage to someone walking into a series of explosions.
And if this has been addressed alredy, then i'm sorry, just need to gert this off my Back.
oh, and on another note, is a soldier hurt by walking into a seige canons shock wave? if so. well, by reading this post, you would know my thoughts on that =P

yeah thats the point.. if you read correctly..

What heat? Grenades do not generate enough heat to give a soldier a 3rd degree burn. Shrapnel kills your target, these grenades are not loaded with Napalm. Also note the soldiers in NS <i>are</i> armored, TSA Nano-Plate or whatever looks strong enough to take heat and other projectiles.
As for FF with just GLs, I am against this because Marines always end up shooting each other in command, especially when they travel as a group and encounter a skulk or what not. Can you imagine the amount of carnage the Marines would face if some guy started opening up with a GL and they all landed near his team mates?

I actualy HAVE played on an FF server, and you know what, there are alot MORE problems with an FF NS server then DoD, CS, HLPB, or ANYTHING
Aliens:
destroys their abilitie to take ouut strucs fast, the bite/swipt/gore area is sorta iffy, thus at TOPS 2 aliens can attack one struc (and this usualy ended up with atleast one of the aliens rather dmged if not dead
The Hive, yah, you get an alien munching on that and you are screwedeven more then a reagular griefer, Ijust spent 1 HR playing and it ends up with A FN GRIEFER EATING OUR HIVES!!!!! (same thing goes with marines)
Marines:
There is FF on the grenade (buyt only self)
Als oFF then seroiusly makes it so that every encounter with an alien is going to kill amrine, (or 2)
I took out entire squads, generaly by running inbetween them, look, in a clan match, ok that makes sense. However in a pub server it just isn't a good idea
so in conclusion, there are FF servers if you wana play with FF on, go find one, or join a clan
NOW LOCK THIS TOPIC PLEASE it has been argueed into the fn ground about 50 times already (in diff topics and now this one)
and also, please note all you are doing is reiteraiting the same thing every one else has said, any one got some orginal comments? (I have posted basicaly all the argumensts again FF on a pub)

As for the heat issue, well, thats were the Molten Shrapnel comes from, i'm not talking Napalm here, i'm talking the heat that is generated by the explosion that is sufficient to meltthat metal.

I'm not talking about absolute friendly fire here, im talking about Grenade explosions only.
I love FF servers, AS LONG as they are well administrated. Thats hard to find sometimes. I only play FF on DoD, otherwise what's the point?
Well, there are serverside commands to do this already in the Half-Life engine. Most mods use these to one degree or another, I'm not sure if NS does or not. I haven't seen a list of NS specific server commands.
