<div class="IPBDescription">64-bit, Ultimate Edition</div>Ever since I got my new computer and installed Vista, I cannot get NS to run quite right.

First of all, here are my specs:
Intel Q6600
2900XT 1GB
4gigs Corsair DDR1066

The first problem I have is the same problem I have with all HL1 mods now that I have Vista, the refresh rate won't go above 60Hz. I have ATI's newest drivers (7.10) and I have set my refresh rate to 75Hz (where I want it), but it stays at 60Hz. I don't have this same problem with Source games or any other game so far. Has anyone experienced this problem?

My other problem is about the sprites turning black. If I turn the gamma ramp off, the sprites will render correctly. Except now my screen is too dark to see... Does anyone have a fix for this or should I just make a custom ATI profile for NS with jacked up gamma?

Thanks!<b>

<b>UPDATE:</b> All you have to do to fix the refresh rate problem is add -freq 75 (or other desired refresh rate) to your game's launch options.

    First up, if it is a problem with ALL HL1 based stuff, go talk to steampowered.com <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

    However:
Does your monitor actually WORK at 75hz? If it doesn't then most things will cap out at the proper refresh rate.
How do you know that HL1 is not running at 75hz? Last I checked, aka just now, HL has nothing to do with Refresh rate. If you are talking about FPS, well, that is a different story. And if that is the case, read <a href="http://www.tweakguides.com/Graphics_7.html" target="_blank">This Guide</a>.
If none of that is the problem, then explain what the problem is.

For the gama ramp, well, have you tried pumping the brightness/gama in game? If so, then yah, use your vid card control panel to set up a hot key that switches your gama for you.

how much did the system cost and how much drugs did you sell? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Yes, my monitor works at 75Hz. I run it at 75Hz with vsync enabled. When I start NS, the refresh rate drops to 60Hz for some reason. Since I use vsync, the FPS will not rise above 60 as well. I could disable vsync and the game would pump out hundreds of FPS, but I like running my games at 75Hz with 75 FPS. That's the maximum my monitor can render. The Catalyst drivers lock the refresh rate at 75Hz for all my other games except for this.

I've set the gamma variable to the max at "3". I guess for this I'll just need to make a custom profile with jacked up gamma.

I remember on my old computer years ago, I used a program called RefreshLock to force the refresh rate. Whenever I tried to start up a game without RefreshLock running in the background, Windows would set the refresh rate back to 60Hz automatically. RefreshLock kept the refresh rate up just like ATI's Catalyst drivers are SUPPOSED to do. I guess they just don't work for NS.

<b>UPDATE:</b> I now know the solution to the refresh rate problem. All you have to do is add -freq 75 (or other desired refresh rate) into your game's launch options.
