Need help with new system

VERY VERY noisy
So I have something like seven 120mm case fans to keep it cool... and it's very loud. Some people in my house don't appreciate the sweet, Turbo-fan like sound of a computer.
I'm in dire need of help - I am forever losing information, downloads, virus scans and chatlogs to having my system shut down by people.
So what I'm looking for is some kind of program... either something that turns down my fanspeed after x amount of time, or something that puts my computer into a low power state mode like 'hibernation' in Vista, but keeps activities on the HDD and network going. (Unlike Hibernation) - so I don't lose downloads, etc.
Please helllp.

Or buy a fan controller thing, they have a whole bunch of nobs you can adjust for each fan once you wire them up.
I doubt that would help. IF I was in the mindset that something was really annoying me, and I'm going to turn it off to get rid of the annoyance, then I would just hold down the power button on the front, or, failing that, unplug the computer.
The locking door covers the power button. Hopefully the computer is plugged in under a desk or something where the power cord is hidden; people don't really think about computers as having a cord that goes in to the wall that they could yank if they wanted to.
What planet you from? A desktop with seven fans they would! You could argue the point with a laptop as you can run it off of a battery easy enough. However I don't think the majority of people in this world are stupid enough to not think about yanking the plug out in that event.
Anyway fanmate is a good thing and some Papst fans perhaps, I hear they are quite quiet.

Isn't there a program that'll shut off my fans, but keep my system active in some kind of low power mode?

Only if they are plugged into your motherboard. Yours are most likely just hooked directly onto your molex connectors correct?
Just change them to run on 5 volts, they will go about half speed which should quiet them down alot. Ill elaborate a bit more if you can give us a link to the type of fan they are, or explain how they are connected to your power supply.
I do have an OC'd SLi and a Quad-core to keep cool, so I thought better cooling would be a good idea.
Anyways - I tried the program "Speedfan" - but to no avail.
As for the fans themselves, they are: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...ne%20Technology
Unfortunately, I did not get a case-fan adjuster.
because i can't buy a water kit for the same price as a four pack of 120mms? (and i don't have to rework the coolers on every single component i install)
7 is overkill though. 3 should be more than enough, because you also have the PSU, the CPU, and the videocard.
- 120mm intake infront of harddrives
- 120mm aux behind harddrives
- 42mm baymount intake in hdd tray
- 120mm exhaust above video cards
- slot exhaust below video card
- slot exhaust below aux video card
- 120mm heatsink/fan on CPU
- 120mm psu intake
- 80mm psu exhaust
Y'know it's better to have a water cooled pc for the price of 4 120mms than 7 fans which sound as loud as a dozen hoovers. Atleast you can keep your pc on overnight.
I stated in a later post that I had 5. D:

That's getting crazy, man! You don't need 5!
Well, I have 5, and I'm stuck with 'em it seems. Plus - they keep a quad core processor and two GPUs cool. I think it's worth it. I've had problems with heat in the past.
I cannot conceive of a realistic situation in which the fans are stuck in your case forever. I know they keep the case cool. They ought to. You can do that with fewer.
