NS without Half-Life?

Hi, i've tried multiple times to get this to work. My friends really want this game and we only need it for LAN.
I've got half life registered and i'm able to play but my friends only got condition zero so they are not able to play. I've tried with the guide "how to install NS with CS:CZ but all it does when i press the shortcut it directs me to the Steam "Store". <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":angry:" border="0" alt="mad-fix.gif" />

Is there any way for me and my pals to lan together? without them buying Half-Life? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" />
Please help, really need this cuz I love it!!

    Well, the guide on how to install NS without hl is pretty old. It used to work with one of the earlier version, but that changed apparently. You could use and old NON-STEAM Version of HL and install NS 1.04. This should work. But if you want to play the most recent version you are more or less bound to buy HL1.

    Umm... can you install your download your steam files onto his computer and install NS? Then get steam up and running so that you can run it in off-line mode, since you're playing on a LAN anyway and shouldn't need an internet connection... or were you planning on playing on a LAN, online together?

    Nope, just LAN. nothing online. So you suggest that i jsut copy all my half-life files to his computer in the steam/steamapps/"acc"/half-life map then try to install the game once again?

    if you install the complete setup for ns on everyones computer and run it at least once in the normal online mode, then start up the computer in offline mode it will work. just install halflife and ns on everyones computer, run it once in online mode, and restart it in offline mode and it should be able to connect to other computers on the lan.

    Alright but I must have Half life installed on the computers? Because if i HAVE to have half-life installed in steam, how am i going to do that? (except buying it)

    you install it on each computer by logging in with the steam account that purchased it, then once youve installed it you put it in offline mode then install it on the next computer.

    it takes a long time though since you can only install it on one computer at a time.

    or you could just throw down the 5 dollars and buy halflife. its not a huge loss.

    tryed this last month guys at a lan, i was the only one with a steam account put it on a mates comp dled hallife isntallted ns, into offline mode, any ways 4 comps latter, suddenly steam knows that even in offline mode with no net on any of hte comps we are trying to pull a fast one and drops us all, bar the last to log on. and its not liek its a instant thing it like it runs the check ever 30 seconds or some such.

    not unless i did something wrong, steam is jsu to smart tehse days, no point in dodgineg the system, i odnt know how old you are but haveing yoru mates make there own account and buying a 5 dollar game each is certainly worth it, ###### i cant even bus it to hte next town and back for 5 dollars, i would most certainly be willing to buy a game that cheap and have hours of fun with mates and other strangers.

    So, ehm... HL is for sale on steam yaknow (cheapscapes they B if they aren't willing to pay this tiny amount <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> ), comes with loads of free mods for hours upon hours of gametime.

    Actually it was illegal a while a go.
