Installation Issues

Im trying to install it on my steam account but wont work, I bought half life online, i used to have a hard copy of it but dont know where it is at. It says when i try to install it, it comes up with a dialog box that says "Setup has not detected a valid steam install. Do you wish to continue?"

    yes i did, do i install it while doing that? I have half life source btw, thanks for replying

    EDIT: I ignored the error and installed NS anyway, works like a charm.
