How To Set Up A Server For Testing?

purple monkey dishwasher
I'm just wondering how to set up a LAN server so I can test various things on my own. I'd like to be able to play without anyone on the other team... Is this possible? Will I need to get a friend to join the server every time I feel like checking something out?

I did a quick search for info on this, but didn't find anything...

What would be really cool is if I could switch teams while playing as well... So I can build something on one team, and try taking it out as the other team...

get the bots and add 1 in, they get stuck on the walls alot (or did the 1st version, havent looked since) so they aint a bother.

Normally the round wont start unless there is at least one person on each team. You can circumvent this by setting sv_cheats to 1 however.

To do this, simply start the game, bring down the console and enter sv_cheats 1

The round should then start and you can go on playing as normal.

Yeah the lan game with cheats on is probably the easiest way to try things out. it does kind of suck cause you have to build everything yourself, but when you pop back in the cc after a lap around the map building various buildings, you have a little stockpile waiting to be spent on upgrades and stuff. AFAIK the cheats toggle shows up in the menu for creating a LAN game so you don't have to root around the console to enable it too.

Now you don't have to beg for a HMG! Of course without bots you can't shoot at anything

PS. How are the bots for NS? Any good?
