  I went to see it on xmas day and was pleasently suprised!

  It was almost like they actually wanted to make this one for the fans, I think it showed everything that most fans would want to see with out dumbing down for the general public. (which means if you haven't seen a predator movie b4 you wouldn't know why some things are happening, but then why would you be there in the first place) Like why a cloaking alien with plasma guns and dread locks is shooting other teethy aliens, or why the big alien keeps ripping peoples spins out. (the detail in this sense was amazing, and needs to be taken into account, other wise it could be brushed of as another horror movie, but everything had its reasons when you know how alien reproduction and hive mind work, the nature of the predators etc)
  I give its high score because, the action was well done and clever and the special FX were top notch. The story while slightly predicatable was still engaging enough, with the help of some R rated, but tasteful and suitable gore.
  
  My two main problems with the movie were the lame characters, and the character development was almost non existant (which is a good thing cause i hated all bar one of the main characters) And sadley I didnt think they developed her enough being the most interesting of the lot (the army mum, obviously cast because of her resemblence to ripley, in both looks and style - the strong leading female with awesome combat skills and common sense).
  
  The rest of the characters were complete knobs and I 1. couldnt relate to them and 2. couldnt care less about them. (I had the same problem with avp 1 and aliens 4, and a lot of new movies, but maybe its just my age now)
  In this movie my reason for disliking them is that all of the characters were ordinary people which to me in a sci fi movie is dead boring, especially when you compare how cool and bada$$ the characters are in predator 1 and aliens 2. The awesomeness oozing from dutch (arnold schw) as he smokes a cigar in the chopper climbs out and flexes his huge arms against dillans and says something so awesome only arnold could say it. (it'll be forever stuck in my head thanks to those prank call arnold mp3s and soundboards). In fact all of the characters in predator while not as likeable as dutch were totally epic, the chain gun guy with the bent hat, the grenade launcher guy, Mac who keeps shaving when he gets nervous. The native american tracker that gets spooked, even Dillan has an awesome moment with akimbo mp5's.
  Then in aliens 2 pretty much all of the marines were awesome, as well as bishop.
  When you compare them to the everday characters in avp2 its a long shot. I simply don't care for alien bait teenagers an ex convict and his mates. (i dont know why anyone would and I'd rather take the risk of being cliche and casting some SEAL/SAS types)
  Also the dawnsons creek bits with the teenage characters were annoying, and while they did always lead up to something alien/predator related i really wish they werent there.
  
  but i guess they managed to squeeze it all in 93 mins which wouldnt of been easy. The end result being a combination of every predator and aliens movie rolled into one, in fact every time something happened I went - "ahh yep thats like that part from such and such". Which wasnt a bad thing. It was kind of like mixing all of your favourite desserts into one mega dessert. Which can go horribly wrong. But this was just the right mix <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> It doesnt retain the class and originality of the seperated flavours but having all of your favourite desserts in is too awesome.
  While it could have been better, I was pleasently suprised it wasnt a lot worse too - and a huge improvement over the 1st movie!

  I'm gonna need to hear a few more "positive" reviews before I change my "this movie is gonna be ######tier than a pile of manure" opinion. The first AvP movie sucked so badly that it still gives me nightmares sometimes.

  While the Predator and Aliens movies were made to stand alone, you had to be a fan of the comics to appreciate the AvP movie. In Alien vs Predator War issue 1, there is a girl who was adopted into their clan and branded with alien blood. She was next to nothing on their scale of usefullness. They communicated through body language and pointing at ######. Here grab this stupid human kinda thing. Anyways, having read that comic made me like the first movie quite a bit.
  
  I was hoping to get in on a preview of the movie since my brother is a manager at the local cinema, but regrettably they aren't playing it here. So I'll wait for the video.
  
  I went to see Sweeney Todd yesterday, I don't plan on driving two hours to watch a mediocre movie, Sweeney Todd was worth it though. First musical I ever liked. For anyone who has Showtime and watches 'Dexter' Sweeney Todd was like watching Dexter the musical. Don't watch AvP, wait for the video to come out and rent it, however drive as far as you have to watch Sweeney Todd.

  Just got back from this. It was pretty awful honestly. Like, I know most of the AvP "Lore" and such, but there was pretty much a complete lack of storyline to this movie. It was just riddled with plot holes (<span style='color:#000000;background:#000000'>The gov didn't notice things falling from the sky? Everybody seemed to understand it was an invasion without having ever seen the aliens or knowing there were multiples of them?</span>), stereotypical characters (<span style='color:#000000;background:#000000'>ARR WE ARE ANGRY HIGHSCHOOL JOCKS EVEN THOUGH WE ALL LOOK LIKE WE ARE IN OUR LATE 20s ARRRGH IM GUNNA BEAT YOU UP BUT LATER BECOME FRIENDS BECAUSE YOU LOOKED AT MY GIRL ARRRRGH</span>), cliche dialog (<span style='color:#000000;background:#000000'>YOU WERE NEVER A GOOD LIAR or I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS!!</span>), generally bad acting (<span style='color:#000000;background:#000000'>My husband was just eaten by a monster but I'm totally chill!</span>) and pretty random and uninspired plot choices altogether (<span style='color:#000000;background:#000000'>Look Im a girl who is a main character watch as I randomly die for no apparent reason near the end and nobody really cares much</span>).
  
  I guess if you want to see aliens(<span style='color:#000000;background:#000000'>and predaliens</span>) and predators fighting and (<span style='color:#000000;background:#000000'>killing pregnant women ahahahaha</span>) then this is a good movie for you.
  
  Also: Are lights too expensive to be used in movies nowadays? Honestly, can't see anything.

  not trying to defend it, opinion is an opinion, and do mostly agree that the characters/actors were lame, and there certainly wasnt any depth to them (not that there would be cause they were just average people) but <span style='color:#000000;background:#000000'> the govt. did notice things falling from the sky or atleast the weyland/yutani corp did, thats why they nuked the city and came in to cease any left overs, hence getting the predator gun at the end.
  I wouldnt say the army lady acted chill, she was trained (and judging but the night vision goggle was in some kind of combat/military specialist) and got the hell out of there to save her kid - also i think she was meant to be like ripley (and i can bet you the next movie will have her in it and she will be ripley's relative - like a great grandmother or something).
  The teen girl that gets stappled to the wall by the frisbe dies so that the other teen kid can shoot the predator down the lift (because he does care she dies) and reacts pretty strongly - this buys the aliens a bit of time to attack the people before they "GET TO THE CHOPPA" lol.
  I think it all makes sense, but at lot of it does seem unnecesarry, and is obviously just there to fuel the next scene. It could have been another 30 mins longer so it had a bit more time to explain certain things because i do feel i had to think about why certain things happened which were important but only subtley portaid. </span>

  AvP was one of the worst films I've ever seen, and I've seen <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109515/" target="_blank">Cyber Tracker</a>
  
  Nothing will ever tempt me to watch AvP2. Not even the sort of morbid curiosity that might make me watch a snuff film or look at a car crash victim or weird phoetuses that went wrong. Nothing.

  Saw it two days ago.
  It was really more funny than scary, at least a little bit better than the first one.
  
  I watched a making-of on tv yesterday and learned a lot from it. xD
  TV: "This woman is the main character!"
  Me: Wait SHE is supposed to be the main character?!?!
  
  TV: "There's a new species, the predalien."
  Me: wtf, a predalien??? The fight scenes were so dark, I thought that was just a regular predator or alien. And it isnt mentioned a single time either.

  We got to see a glimps of a inhabiited predator planet with earth like pyrimids.
  
  This predator was obiously a bounty hunter/cover up guy.
  
  Was the pretorian a spawn of a female predator which also supports reasons for her fighting along side and marking the human chick in the first movie, which gives reason to the ability to spu fourth countless eggs.
  
  If not are predators A sexual creatures, do they all have this ability if they become pertorians, or was said pertorian the birth of said solar systems queen as last queen was frozen crushed and drowned.
  
  How the goverment already has technology/scanner to track watch and predict infestation growth rate, and as well as future possable spread paturns.
  
  
  At the end of the movie a line was said, "This world isnt ready for this technology" "this technology isnt for this world" this line clearly stats that not only was the gun retived but it hints at the shuttle being retirved seeing as it crashed on the other side of the mountain, in a ravine in a lake., that and after retirval of the other half orbiting earth, space travel obiously isnt far off.
  
  if space travel isnt far off, forget the milatary grade mum, did anyone catch the name of the little girl, was it ellen, anyone cheack the credits, i know i was going to but missed them
  
  but yes in this movie SO many bondarys were crossed, too see half this stuff if you truely are a twisted person you would need to watch at least 8 horror films,
  
  lets see, innocent kid watches dads arm melt off
  innocent kid hears dad gargling, innocent kid gets face hugged
  innocent kid watches dads chest burst, innocent kids chect bursts
  
  multiple pregnate wimen haveing there reproductive organs devoured, petorian and pregnat wimen tongue action and incemination,
  
  semi or fully naked female bodys left laying around missing imporant baby produceing body parts.
  
  young girl kid seeing said body parts corpses under scary blinking lights
  
  heads, spines and body parts, being torn open in countless ways and manners leaveing vivid images of bodyly destruction on screen or camera its after math and its lead up takeing up entire shots and at least minutes at a time.
  
  the nukeing of a entire county or small town in such a vivid and bueaty full aray of color and effect that took up at least 3 minutes, litraly you seen the nuke hit cetner of town about at least 70 people and you watch it sbrun them peal skin of char them and vaporise them and ever structure and or plant life in its path before mushroom clouding, the most blatant dispaly of genocide ever seen in HD quality to this day
  
  it was non stop morbidness, with and not limited to a 18 wheeler full of movie magic blood, heads exsploding like paint grenades while watching the bodys slump to the floor, face melting with acid serious the camera sat on this with three camera angles for at least a good 30 seconds, lead hot female actress being stappled to a wall by rapidly flying disk thing, for christ sack she rag dolls for a good 25 seconds twitching simpley from pyshics and the froce and speed of this thing movieng alone, she instanly died and dangles there with blood dripping for a camera shot that took up the whole screen for a good 5 seconds, clearly showing each puncture mark and the spread and rate of blood.
  
  every 5 minute sit was human, alien stealthy sneaks up on them, kills them apon noticeing, or tortures there with fear, does said act of killing, in visous graphical manner, damage and destruction of said human is then put in view or shot for a good five seconds, said human is then left tobe discovered or cropse is blatantly draged away or left in some way that its ether further tarnished
  
  even the acid like clean up liquid the predator had leaves a graphic and clear morbid image in ones head be it viewing how it cleans up and does damage or be it viewinghte pile of ashes after wards.
  
  the implosion form the crashed predator ship was even pritty full on and graphical.

  this is like all other alien predator movies combinded plus a bit of saveing private ryan, oc, silent hill and x files.

  Just saw it. And I slightly regret it. Too many things seemed convenient. And a lot of things didn't make sense at all.
  
  However, by comparison. Reading NEX9's post in this thread was even more annoying and regrettable. So if you don't hate yourself for reading that post, maybe your standards are low enough to really enjoy the movie.
