Help A Hl Newb

Ok...this is kinda lame...har har...but I'll ask it anyway. Im basically a HL newb when it comes to scripts and binds. Back In Quake I could do **obscenity**, but i always hated HL up to like a month ago and never wanted to learn the scripting. I just know the natural stuff....well that doesnt get you far enough in todays gaming community.

I was wondering if someone could guide me to a site to help introduce me to binds, and common functions. Pretty much right now Im just looking for a way to aim at 50 degrees, then bring teh view back to center. Otherwise I think the other stuff is probably in teh .cfg's and i can figure out what the impulse thingies are.

uh, why would you need something to aim at 50°?? Its not like enemies only appear at 50° above level, and if you're doing that for headshots, dont bother because theres no locational damage in NS.

uhh.. same.. but I can help you bind any commands, like "Cover me" and stuff. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Well, What i was going for..Was a Bind for fade that aimed at like 50 or 60 degrees, switched to blink, fired(blinked), switched to slot1(claws), and centered the view

I found some bind page on half life stuff but it doesnt seem to work right, it never will center the view back and it goes completely straight up on +lookup...+attack never ends, even tho i put a +attack;wait;-attack in...

I dotn know, just ....wont work

    lol.

You'll probably just end up killing yourself. Read more threads to understand why. :P

    ^^^

Search around for the list of impulse commands. They're on here somewhere, I've seen them at least twice.
Anyways, one impulse command I know off hand is 'impulse 7'. Thats the command to make the Aliens chuckle.

So, what I did was open the console, type:

    bind "X" "impulse 7"

Then, everytime I press X, my Alien chuckles. - NOTE: "X", can be any key on your keyboard.

If you'd ike to bind text messages:

bind "Y" "say Good game!" - will "say" the text message to everyone.
bind "Z" "say_team Good job guys!" - will "say" the text message to only your team.

Thats as deep into this as I'd like to get.

    hud_fastswitch 1 I think the command is.

No messing around with GUI. You could do that easily. Hit 3, aim up, fire, hit 1, then aim at your enemy. I pull it off a fair ammount of times. Especially leaping as Skulk then going bite and ripping his face off.

netfool7, also, impulses work for both marines and aliens.. I think impulse 7 is follow me for marines, and chuckle for aliens. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Ya, I know impulses work. Thats not the problem. And I thought Flay fixed the code so we could execute code for scripts w/o suiciding? Or no? Well Anyway lol.

Ok, so its bitegun, I know that, I couldnt get +bitegun or bitegun or anything to work, so i ended up w/ +attack

    jasdljksadlfjksdaklfj

I still cant get it to un-attack when the bind is hit.

Like I said, Such as I bound g to (exactly) "+jump;wait 10000;+attack;wait;-attack;" and it doesnt unbind or - it. I have to manully go to console and -attack.

What Im pretty much looking for tho is the aim part, or switching or what not. Just weird as a n00b when yer used to quake lol.

    <b><u>Frankly...</u></b>
I don't know jack about ingame scripting, since I am a pretty conservative player.

    <b>...BUT...</b>
I think these websites <i>might</i> have some hints for you:
    <a href='http://half-life.gamehelp.com/' target='_blank'>I.am/Half-Life</a>

    <a href='http://www.planetfortress.com/hlmp/hlmp2-beta/article.asp?ID=325' target='_blank'>Planetfortress.com - Basic Half-Life Scripting</a>

    <a href='http://dlh.net/cheats/pc/deutsch/half-life+-+counterstrike/englfaq.html' target='_blank'>Dlh.net - Half-Life: Counterstrike Scripting FAQ</a>

    <a href='http://www.scripts.planet-action.net/intr.htm' target='_blank'>scripts.planet-action.net</a>

However as far as I have read in the forums, certain scripts that enable you to automate
certain game actions (i.e. creating excessive move/weapon switch/attack combos) will
cause some kind of NS anti-scripting feature to kick in (I think it just instant-kills you). <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

As mentioned above I'm not into scripting and I am a rather slow player, so I never
    got into a situation that could have triggered such an anti-scripting thingie. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    <b>Edit:</b> I stumbled across a list written by <b><a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=Profile&CODE=03&MID=4340' target='_blank'>Rabid Llama</a></b> wich supposedly
    contains all the possible command thingies: <a href='http://rawr.mine.nu/NS-impulselist.txt' target='_blank'>NS-Impulselist</a> (thought it might help). <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
