    Try reinstalling NS. A lot of the problems listed
    are from corrupted installs, I had to install NS three times
    to get it all to run through properly.

    XP doesn't seem to like the taste of the NS installer.

    Are you installing to the default C:\sierra\half-life\
    folder? or do you have HL installed somewhere else?
    Especially if you moved it after installation.

    Windows XP home. Yuck. No offense.

    Worst comes to worst, contact me (8596755), and
    I'll hook you up with the trackerui.dll

    It's not related to the trackerui.dll problem, as that's been a problem in every mod since the release of Steam months ago (including me).

    There is a crash problem involving when the console just starts raising, only I haven't been around to see if a fix has been worked out for it. There are pinned topics at the top of this forum though. You should start there.

    I've been having the same problem, and haven't found any fixes in the pinned topics. I'm also on xp home. Suggestions are welcomed.

    I'm on 2000 pro, and I get that message every time as well. The game still appears to work fine without it (for me, anyways). Is it an important file?

    I am running xp pro and have had no problems like this - I'll assume that HL was installed properly and not just copied from your last hard drive and that other mod you've installed work Ok? Inthat case if this problem is something to do with the console try removing the -console command from the shortcut?
    Oz forums list the trackerui.dll bug in cs and suggest
    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->
    Here is what to do
    1. Find your Half-Life (or Counter-Strike Retail) directory.
    2. Open the "valve" folder
    3. Opent the "cl_dlls" folder
    4. Rename the current file "GameUI.dll" to something else (i.e. GameUI.bak)
    5. Start your Counter-Strike game
    <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    Suggested causes are firewalls (there's one on XP by default you can disable it - your risk) but also link it to VAC, so it really shouldn't affect ns in that instance.

    Try a google search on trackerui.dll

    Thanks eaglec, that fix helped, in that it doesn't give the "TrackerUi.dll invalid" error anymore, but it's still hanging in the same spot, with the console window half up and the sound looping. Should I just reinstall everything again?

    try your video and sound drivers - make sure they're up to date. Check dxdiag to make sure everythings working properly.

    If you have LOTS of mods installed try taking out a couple of the older ones - I had an issue a while back with too many mods but I don't think it was like this... and then I think, yes. My preference to order would be
    uninstall ns and re-install, test, if not working..
    uninstall whole of hl - remove folder and re-install - reboot and test in between each mod/update ,
