Games miss these instances all too often nowadays since most developers seem to be moving towards cash cows instead of stuff that smaller or indie devs are creating. Baren lands, empty buildings, open feilds, so many different ideas that add an erie and actually scary as hell since there is a "WTF is about to happen" feeling to them. Plus things like this add a sense of "you can run but you can't hide" too, there is no cover! Fades and Lerks can swoop in and dish out the love while the marines have to use movement and group tactics instead of just spamming a narrow passageway tactics all too foten oversued in NS 1. There are even bot maps where you see this the most. The marines will find a pigeonhole to shoot through, then they sit there watching their res come in. Kinda of an exploit if you ask me...
Anyways, great stuff! I would love to see something like this in NS2! The last game I played which had this was Blade Of Darkness. Some areas had these unbelievably huge, open hallways and rooms. Big as a twenty story building, but all one room, and some columns at either side. Actually I lied, Painkiler had a few, not as big, but still huge open areas that gave the game a completely different feel to it. Great post. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
