Discconected REASON: Steam Connection Lost

  System Specs? (Include networking equipment, ISP, etc)
  
  Can you play other online games?
  Other Online Steam Games?
  Other HL1 Mods? (Or just HL1 DM for the heck of it)
  
  Is your connection a wireless one?
  
  Shut down all non essential programs? (Malware scanner, firewalls, IM clients, 3TB of pr0n via BT, etc)
  
  Done Malware scans?

  I had this problem from time to time, because I got a sh*tty wireless (netgear). Works fine when on the net or using MSN etc. but steam connection can go dead, so I plug my laptop when I play, rather than using the wireless via router.
  
  Don't know if that is you problem though...

  I, myself, have been getting this error. I hadn't played NS in a few months, and when I decided to come back I got this same error after 5min of playin. Or sometimes it doesn't happen until I get attacked by someone. Either way, the problem is in NS itself.
  
  I know for a fact that it has nothing to do with my computer, my internet, the fact that I use a router, etc. It has to do with NS. How did I deduct this? Well, there's been no new installs or viruses on the comp. Internet is all fine and dandy and the router still works cuz I play DoD and CS, plus browse the net for hours and have dls runnin almost constant (unless I'm in game, then they get paused).
  
  So with the deduction to the mod itself, anyone have any suggestions? It obviously doesn't happen to EVERYONE, but the select few it does happen to, did they ever figure out the problem and are willing to share the answer with the rest of us?

  System: 1.8 GHZ AMD , 1028 MB RAM (2x256,1x512) , 256 MB grafic card (don t remember wich one)
  Connection: 4000/1000kbs CABEL not wireless
  yeah i can play other games fine too but not steam games based on HL1 i cant <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> and i can browse the internet too and router still running perfectly its the same what have GhettoBarbie maybe
  i shut down all the other programs and nothing <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> but when i get disconected i can get fast back without problem but only until some time past then i am disconected again over and over
  Maybe reinstall can work....

  I believe this isn't actually due to anything on your system, it's just packet loss between your computer and the steam authentication server your account is currently associated with.
  
  If that's the case, nothing you can do but wait.
