Ideas about some more weapons, units...
New Alien creature
Imagine a creature, something between Gorge and spider. 6 leg Gorge maybe.
So this "6 leg Gorge" can crawl the walls, quickly run, but his health is somewhere between Gorge and Skulk.
1. ability - Poisonous bite (small amout of damage taken from bite, larger from poison - lets say about 10hp/sec - duration about 5sec)
2. ability - Spike spit (spitting of same projectiles, like OC do)
3. ability - Smoke cloud (realase a big smoke cloud - good for tactics offence/defence - affect visibility)
4. ability - Passive healing (slightly increase passive healing of other Aliens in xx range)

Additional things next!

Oh, and sorry for my eng. :-)

For some reason I'm biased against new alien lifeforms.. I think 5 different kinds is quite enough; and representative of a very large range of different gaming styles.

How about UMBRA does smoke screen instead of bullet shield...

I say this because im guessing (someone tell me if im wrong) that UMBRA is suppsoed to be a smoke screen, it works the same way as a smoke screen would people inside umbra take less damage from bullets which is like a smoke screen except it cuts out the marine missing, instead making an actual smoke screen and letting the marine miss becasue of it. It just averages how much a marine would miss and removes that damage from the equation, which is nice...

But I think in the new generation game, on a new engine, which can handle new things, why should you have to cut out the middle man???

    -P.s

Also I echo the comment I made on implementing to make the LMG useful late game, because Marines sometiems need an Accurate late game wepon and some people just really love LMG.

One of them i would like to pull out and see what you guys think;
Im pulling my own meaning from this and ill explain why.

I dont kno how many of you have delved into siege map or custom maps but im guessing it is most of you and when you do every now and then you find a map designer has actualy made a map too big, I dont mean too much map but i mean too much open space. A classic one of these was Weldsiege, with its corridor probably spanning the length of 12 onos front to back. Now this is where my idea comes from, when you do encounter games like these its ok if its early in the game when you have your pin point accurate lmg and pistol but later on in the game there are NO wepons with accuracy.
I dont suggest a Sniper Class or a Sniper Rifle, I just think that for some people who loved the LMG just as much as I did something could be intergrated into the upgrades to make the LMG just as useful late game as it is early game. For example a sight like kijiki suggested but i do not think this would be effective so im thinking more maybe being able to get critical shots with it or something... Just something to make sure that marines do have a accurate late game gun because to be fair it is what marines are lacking late game.

    Thanks for reading

(also I did not wish to make a new post because I thaught it was more relevent in this one but I am not sure so feel free to make this a new post of something if you consider me stealing this persons post.)

I find it interesting that you think the original idea behind Umbra was a smoke screen. I don't know if that's the case, it may be, but I've never thought of it that way. I've always thought of it as extra armor. The first thought that comes to mind is that kharaa need to be able to see through it, although I don't think that's too difficult to do. The next problem is blinding marines, maybe it's translucent to whoever is inside it and to kharaa all of the time?

I've played siege and custom maps of course, but I don't really think that features should be coded for them. LMG with a scope doesn't really make much sense in small quarters so this feature would really be just for those maps. There have been lengthy discussions on making the LMG more useful{link}. I personally believe a lvl 3 LMG is all ready pretty useful.

Well, i think that Kharaa do not need to see through the smoke. I mean, Kharaa can use Parasites to see the Marines through, right?

Visibility in the smoke can be like 2m / 6,5ft ?

    Just idea :-)

But wasn't the original idea behind Umbra, to slow down none bacteria projectiles so they do less damage?

In all fairness I think if Aliens used their Torch vision it wouldnt be very hard to see people through smoke...
