in NS General Discussion
The other day when I was playing NS on ns_hera I joined aliens at the start of a new game we all started rushing from the hive out side of prosing I got all the way to the hallway between the halo room and hera reception when... pop I exploded. with out even hearing a shots so I guess I got knifed... but how could a human catch me... so I look up to the top right corner of my screen to see what lucky human knifed me and what did I come to find... the entire alien team was just knifed by the same person. Has any one else seen this?

    Unless you can dissable the (admin) at the end of you name or the green icon my your name ya I am sure he was not the admin.

    There is code that just kills you if you somehow manage to activate an ability and a completely different one without any weapon switch time or anything. Like if you're leaping around and you somehow switch to bite with zero game ticks inbetween... or very few (unfortunately ping dependent)

    This is supposed to prevent cheating via scripting, but it sometimes kills you under certain conditions without scripting. Which is unfortunate.

    Read what he said. He said that ONE person KNIFED the entire alien team at once. The code that Flayra put into NS, if it kills you, does not say that someone else killed you.

    You know, there was a bug where sometimes your weapon would follow you into the command console, and you could use it until it ran out of ammo. I dunno if this was fixed or not, but he might've had a knife in the CC. I doubt it though, because this was the start of the game, and he probably didn't have motion tracking yet. But it's been known to work without an observatory....

    First, the anti-script thing no longer kills you, as of 1.02 -- it only ignores the command. So leap then immediately bite results in just a leap, the bite never happens.
    Second, the weapon-in-CC thing is a harmless display bug, as you can't actually do anything with the weapon. It "fires", but nothing gets hit.
    Oh, yeah, and as to why your whole team died, I'm betting on it just being a juvenile admin.

    Ugh. I HATE childish admins. I was on some useless clan's server the other day. I didn't realize what a bunch of 'tards they were until when I requested assistance (I was a Marine, map was Eclipse) in a certain corridor and the Commander (a memeber of the clan - only two clan members were actually playing on the server at the time and the rest of the players were pubs like me) tells me to f*ck off.

    I was like jeez man why are you being so rude?

    Then I get "slapped". Must be some admin mod ability - he slaps me around the room and it takes away my health. I kept asking him to stop. Even after he killed me once, I respawned and he kept "slapping" me.
    I got so annoyed at the childish retardation exhibited by him that I just /quit.

    While this may be not the same expierence as the original poster I encountered something yesterday that intrigued me. I was playing skulk and everything was good, I came into contact with a marine and all my controls went screwy(I fixed this by activating a backup cfg). It was as if someone screwed with my keys or something. I couldnt bite, I couldnt move, I couldnt do anything. I didnt think to much of it at the time as I thot perhaps it was lag or me being stupid. But then it happened again. This time I was marine and when I came into contact with some Khaara my controls went all screwy again! I looked at my ping, it was 60 or so so I wasnt lagging.

    Would someone plz explain to me what happened to me? Both times I had to use a backup cfg in order to get my keys working properly again. Was it a jerk admin messing with my keys? If so he musta had the command to do that bound to a key so he could screw with ppl right in the mid of a firefight.

    I know in TFC there's a % that returns the name of the last person you "saw" (IE, got the name of by having the cursor on them), so it's possible someone has something like this that rebinds all the keys of the last person they saw as they see fit.

    I'm constantly amazed at the stupid things an admin will do on their own server to win.
