display and mouseproblems..
hey

i just got a new pc with vista ultimate 64bit.
now i cant play ns without problems, because the message "display doesn't support downloadable gam.." appears every time.
that means i get no colors on the scoreboard, icons are just black, ..
i think its because ns is not supporting 64bit, am i right?

furthermore i cant use key 4 and 5 of my logitech mx510 with setpoint 4.40.88 driver ingame..

anyone got that problems too and maybe knows or got ideas how to fix it?

Personally I have a problem on Vista where if I play any (and only) steam games that my FPS drops after a minute of gameplay. If anyone knows why, please let me know.

My ns loves vista. I've been enjoying ns a lot after getting a vista laptop. Everything runs so smoothly that you can pull off new skulk moves all the time.

pft, fask can only solve HALF!

EagleEye, have you tried to assign actions to those buttons directly through the Gui? If so what happens? if not, try it.

    possible problems ARE:
    1) those buttons are defined as somethign wonky that HL doesn't know.
    2) those buttons are defined as somethign and you tried to just bind via the console.

    Possible solutions ARE:
    1) If you can bind via the gui, all is good (and you can then look in your config file to see what they are called)
    2) Go through your mouse drivers and force it to bind them to somethign more reasonable (like mouse buttons 4&5 or just bind them to strange keys you never use, like ( and ) and then just bind stuff to thos keys)

    For more on solution 2:
Some drivers will autoload configs based on program launches, if that is the case then you could bind it up based on hl.exe.

    Good luck mate.

    for the rest of you:

Go make your own damn threads!

(seriously, it is easier to help people out if the posts are all actually related, just b/c he was talking about Vista doesn't mean that you should put all thing that you think are problems with vista in here, also posts of 'well it works for me' are not really constructive, same as posts of 'well don't use Vista you noob!').

and exoity: honestly, if it is ALL steam games (not just HL1 games), go over to steampowered.com and talk to them, they will probably have better answers then we would.

    btw, fask's face == pwnt!

(Now I will stalk you down in TF2 and baseball bat in your head)

the buttons were defined as leftarrow and rightarrow..
i tried to unbind/bind them with the console but i didnt work.

after all i looked in the helpfile of the driver again which i did before. it says that you can choose the definition of the buttons for each program. but the dropdownlist just isnt there. so i kept playing around with the settings for like 1 hour and now i got it to work..just defined them to another function in the end -.-

thanks for your ideas anyways xD
