<div class="IPBDescription">Really low.</div>So, due to some pretty crappy circumstances, my laptop and desktop are no longer in my possession.

I have a cash register to use as a computer for the time being.

2Ghz Celeron
Intel 82865G Integrated Graphics Accelerator
128Mb DDR266
And a cool touch screen
With Windows XP

I need to know of some good games I can play on this piece of crap.

some 3d games from that era will run like crap on that onboard 2d card... I know as I've had to use a 3800+AMD with an onboard 32mb graphics card that could not even run hl1 properly (5-30fps)

    so yeah basically what Svenpa said -2 years for 3d games <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

One of my friends emailed me this recently, it might be up your street:<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->La Mulana. It's a great game, it's a homage to MSX, which the Japanese home computer equivalent of the NES, which had mad great games which many of have never heard of. La Mulana is not only a very decent game, but a hard one at that which does test platformer skills but there are quite a lot of puzzles which a pretty hard. I managed to complete it, but it took about 4 months (I stopped playing it for a long while in between) and I had to use a guide at certain points honestly. Mainly because certain puzzles a pretty vague, IIRC two occasions because of "bad" translation. Because it couldn't fit on the page, the translator had to be "economical" with English. Also there is not decent detailed guide and there are multiple ways you can go around to finish the game when you reach a certain point, so you can be stuck at one point and know not why.

    The Game:
    <a href="http://agtp.romhack.net/project.php?id=lamulana" target="_blank">http://agtp.romhack.net/project.php?id=lamulana</a>

Download the translation patch as well. It should translate the manual. If it doesn't, ask me for it. You can use a gamepad although you will need to use the keyboard on occasions as well.

I will help you initially. General Tips don't spoil any of the puzzles. Direct Starters Guide will tell you what exactly you have to do at the beginning if you are absolutely ######e or impatient. I die 5 times before I managed to save successfully because I was being dumb.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->And he wrote me some general tips as well. (Plus a guide, but it has spoilers so I won't post it here.)

    <!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->General Tips:

    - Read the instruction manual, located in directory La Mulana > Manual > Manual > 00.html . It's is useful, giving you tips that I don't have to, and mentions what some items do. Some of the descriptions are vague unfortunately...

    - Starting the game, up is jump, to enter the huts, press down. The that you are right next is the Elders hut, and you need to speak to him if you want to open the way to La Mulana.

    - Explore the surface. Breaking open all the pots should reward you with 20 coins and a few weights that allow you to buy. Mind that items in pots on the surface do not respawn ever.

    - Certain pots in the ruins will always contain certain items. Eg. The pot near the entrance of the Guidance Gate will always contain 10 coins. You can build up money by collecting, saving then reloading your game.

    - There are doors that can open one way. To open just keep pushing into it. To push blocks it's the same way.

    - Sometimes it is necessary to save and reload to regain health as there are no methods to healing other than collecting and Gem of Life and filling your EXP gauge. If you are deep in ruins sometimes is pays to kill enemies to get your health up.

    - Places weight by pressing down. Weight are hard to come by in the beginning of the game. Don't waste them.

    - The Handy Scanner is your only helpful tool in the ruins. You can't read tablets and corpses without it. The Glpyh Reader makes you able to read the ruin writings with the Handy Scanner. Read tablets. They are helpful most of the time. Some are blank and there is nothing you can do about that.

    - It is useful writing things down that you know you wouldn't remember reading a from tablet. Unfortunately there are certain parts of the game that this becomes NECESSARY.

    - If something looks too obvious, it probably is.

    - Game Master, located in one of the village shops, is necessary to save the game. Select the ROM in the MSX menu and speak to the Elder to use it.

    - The whip can hit above your head if you look at the animation. The dagger is fast. The Katana hit below you. Learn the weapons as they have different hit areas and strengths and damage.

    - Some walls can be only be destroyed by a specific weapon or sub-weapon. If something doesn't work, try something else.

    - There are shops in the ruins. They sometimes sell items that you need to progress in the game.

    - The Golem Guardian is really really hard. Thankfully you don't have to fight him to continue you progress and "get the riddle". Perhaps exploring and getting some more health. you could fight him early but unless you are really skilled and/or have good amount of health...

    - There are two parts of the game which can screw you up permanently late in the game if you wasn't paying attention, then you decided to save. (There are other parts that seem that you screwed up but I know the work arounds).

    - Treasure chest usually have method of opening. Sometimes killing all the enemies in a room, a switch, but sometimes solving a completely different room will open the chest so you may have to leave it til later.

    - To use the "Grail", talk to the Elder, or bring up the item screen and press "0" then you know what I mean... or he means in Pigeon English. Most useful item in the game - which is why you get it after the first guardian. Elder is useful on occasions. When he's not rambling about a random MSX ROM.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->If you don't like this perhaps someone else will.

How about <a href="http://www.miraigamer.net/cavestory/" target="_blank">Cave Story</a>? It's the best freeware game I've ever played! But make sure you download the English patch.

Well, you got the older quake series, half life, doom 1 & 2, system shock 2 (hey hit me up if you wanna play some coop, its fun).

Try battlezone 98 and battlezone 2, their both really fun games that really need a third. I thought about trying to get a mod team together to make one but i'm too busy for that stuff anymore <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> Or if you like mechs more, heavygear 1 and 2 are really good games.

Heh, the thing runs HL1 in 640x480 in OpenGL at about 14fps, in the first room of the test chamber.

    I haven't tryed software though.

The Longest Journey runs nicely though. The models are even rendered properly, unlike with my GeForce 9600GT <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

I fired it up last night, I might play through that again.

    UnReal World?

Forget Dwarf Fortress...you need a nuclear powerplant CPU wise for that one...

Hmm, all the classics that have already been mentioned. Just hunt theunderdogs or abandonia for some really great games.

Can't think of any other games...too tired to think atm...

It doesn't matter how much power the rest of the computer has if the onboard graphics chipset is not made for 3d. As I posted I once had a 3800+AMD Venice core with 3x512 GeiL memory and 10.000 rpm hdd's. My graphics card died and it could not even run hl1 at a decent fps with its onboard 2d card while I had to wait for me new 3d card <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
