Kind Of New To Aliens

<div class="IPBDescription">Well...new</div> Ok, I usually play marines, but i think its fun to play both sides, I understand everything except like 2 things.

#1, Level 1, 2, 3 Traits? Someone said they had level 3 carapace with 2 hives, is that even possible? I thought the level was based on hives, respectively, 1 hive = level 1 trait.

#2 WEbbing! how do u web right? Ive seen web guides but that doesnt tell me how to web. My problem is that when i shoot a web it doesnt stick to anything, and i dont even see the damn thing. Do u have to be opposite of the target your shooting at? Or will it automatically to the opposite wall across from the place your shot it at? Or do u have to shoot once, and then shoot again at another area, and it will connect from the 2 places you shot from?

Help would be much appreciated

    Think of the things you are shooting as dots and the webs are the lines. So you want to connect the dots. Shoot at one area then shoot at the area opposite to that (or where ever you want to web to cross). Then the actual web forms. However if you shoot a "dot" at a marine he will immediately be webbed. Hope that helps.

    Traits are dependent on the number of that particular towers you have. If there are 3 defense towers you will have level 3 defense traits.

    Wow, that was fast, Thanks Guys, Im surprised that You can get level 3 Cloaking within moments of the game. That kind of threw me off, Thx again.

    Trait levels are solely dependent on the number of chambers that support the trait.
    For example, 3 defensive chambers or more will give level 3 for all the defense traits (Carapace, Regen, Redemption)

    The ABILITY to build chambers is dependent on the hives. Each hive is permanently assigned a chamber, assigned by building a new chamber of a different type. After that, the hive is required for its assigned chamber to be built.
    For example:

    <Start of game>
    1. Starting hive is not assigned anything
    2. Gorg builds defensive chamber. Defensive chamber is assigned to starting hive (You can see what the hive is assigned to in the upper right corner of HUD). Now, gorgs can build defensive chambers, but not the others.
    3. Hive 2 is up. A gorg builds a movement chamber, assigning movement chambers to the second hive. Gorgs can build both defensive and movement chambers.
    4. Hive 3 is up. A gorg builds a sensory, assigning sensory chambers to the third hive. Gorgs can build all 3 chambers.
    5. Hive 1 is destroyed. Since defensive chambers were assigned to it, they cannot be built anymore until the hive is rebuilt.

    Because hives are permanently assigned a trait, there is much debate about the order of chambers, as seen on this board.

    Yah, i understood about the only one type of chamber per hive, i just thought it was kind of odd to be able to get level 3 so quickly, heck, the 3 defense chambers are probably some of the first things i build.

    Defense is the standard starting chamber, but never underestimate the power of L3 cloaking in the first 10 minutes of the game. Alot of bitching will occur, but once people realize that they are still doing REALLY well, they might actually compliment you.

    Does it matter how many defence chambers you have for carapace? Because it seems you can have maximum armour with just one defence chamber.

    Yes. Apart from increasing armor, carapace levels also negate damage directly as well as increasing the part of the damage handled by armor. And as armor counts double (ie, it takes two damage to decrease armor one step), shifting damage from health to armor makes you live longer.

    Skulk 10/18
    Lerk 9/24
    Fade 29/80
    Ono 75/130 (about)

    lvl3 cloaking at the start is great fun, the last thing marines are expecting is invisible skulks early game. you can camp every single expansion point and, if you play it right, stop them from getting anywhere but turtling in their spawn (which = teh lose for them. onos crush!)

    Oh man, i own now, i always play gorge with my friend, we always get the hive up in minutes, then the 3rd, Ive played about 4 games in a row and won everytime.
