<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec--><b>At the moment what is the status of the game's progress and what release date are you targeting?</b>

<i>We do have a release date in mind but it can only hurt us to talk about it, so I'm going to keep my mouth shut. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> The game has to be awesome before we release it.</i><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Now you're just taunting us <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Great interview. Hope we'll be seeing more of them in the near future.

I really hope NS2 is applicable to competitive play as well. And not just a 'pub' game.

Did anyone see the link to this interview anywhere on the site? I didn't see it on the front page so I wonder if anyone but us even saw this...

It is in the "Blog" section (link on the bottom of the main page) inside "Featured Stories".

    BTW, let me introduce myself...

Mithros, alias Razor, and I´m pleased to finally meet you guys.

I´ve been following the updates, discussions e so on for about 6 months and I´m as anxious as anyone here regarding this most likely masterpiece that will be NS2.

I´ve kept an eye over the NS brazilian community (myself included) and many people are also paying attention to your efforts, so keep it up UWE!

Great interview Flayra, and may it be one of many many more.

    My regards to the NS community <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

    That was an interesting read.

Blurring edges of vision? Sounds neat, but also sounds like the kind of thing that would get dropped by competitive players.

If you click on "news" it's about 3/4 down the page with about 40 other news topics around it. But on the main page the NS2 Vodcast #5 is in the latest downloads and is "being downloaded" atm.

Nice interview. It's a dandy little review for people who haven't seen NS before. Good idea not mentioning any release dates - premature predictions tend to be a recipe for disaster.

+10 points for mentioning crepes (NS1 is the second most delicious crepe I've ever eaten).

You guys own. Anyone that can pull a cross-genre game off is awesome! Truly an inspiration, I got my first job in the games industry over summer by the way! (Not QA either, actually getting to code!) Can't wait to get exams out of the way so I can get started!

Perhaps enemy movement could be more visible in alien peripheral vision, while still keeping the blur effect (which sounds like an awesome idea to me). Any movement could brighten the moving object, or leave more visible trails, or get less blurry as it moves. Peripheral vision is, if I understand correctly, more sensitive to motion in most creatures (humans included).

I wonder if things like this will be controllable through script? Actually, I am assuming it will be, such as the HUD is very editable in UE games, it would be cool to mod up some cool heat goggles or something for the marines to use, and then see how it plays out!

Good interview, but waiting for this game is <i>going</i> to kill me.

Good idea. I don't know if you could make it such that removing one would remove both, but if that's possible I like the enhanced peripheral vision thought.

Ah it's getting closer and closer (even though we still gotta wait 1.5+ years for it, but it's gonna be so worth it)
I LOVE the idea of the whole alien blurred view - this idea paradox had sounds great too, makes you actually FEEL like you are an alien and not just a crippled dog, way to go!

It was very encouraging to hear the FPS side of the game being touted as at least somewhat important (let alone primary).

I just hope that, in trying to create a great game, the interactivity between players via the skill of the game is kept intact.

    Thanks for the update.

Actually, I believe the old DI video was on the engine they're using now--or, rather, the forerunner to it that they'd been using for testing things like DI.

I'd just like to thank our community for their support over the years. Because of their enthusiasm and support, we are "living the dream" and making the game we want to play and doing so on our own terms.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    WE LOVE YOU TOO! ;D

The interview is pretty good, I think one of the most interesting interviews you ever made, but as a "con" I'd say it's a little bit short.

More sauce would be great ;D

love the reading, you can set the date when you feel for it..

From what i know good game are dated when the company feels ready for it.

Wounder what the future interview will hold.
  • RideRide Join Date: 2003-11-11 Member: 22511Members
I guess they got some _very_ great investors, setting a release date when the game is awesome is kind of not the usual way to do it if you got money-pressure. I gotta say I love it that way.
