My point exactly. Actually, this makes me wonder about the future of the game. If the jargon is any indication, Starcraft is now so far beyond the basic game that it is virtually impossible for anyone new to the game to get into it. True/false?

Depends on the level you're looking at.
It's surprising how much you can learn about top-level SC gameplay with a few good replays (commentary is extra useful, see GomTV's English commentary done by my friend's brother). Also, it's a transparent game so you can do the math for 'cost-effectiveness' and such yourself, you just miss out on some of the subtle mechanics (wtf Reaver mechanics).
So, I'd say it's actually pretty easy to get into SC. Building up the skill to execute the theory is something completely different of course, and BNet isn't very conductive to teaching.

You don't know a quarter of what goes on inside of a 400apm Korean's head. The way Koreans and foreigners play zerg are completely different for example. Koreans are subscribers of zerg militaristic theory. Zerg is the strongest race only, and only when zerg expands outward and each hatchery is added at an expansion spot with no more than 15 drones (12 on minerals) at each base. Every hatchery produces combat units and no sunkens are built. You couldn't have known this from watching replays. You also won't learn small things such as that 'speedling surround rapes marines' from watching gosu replays due to the sheer micro skill of the terran player.
I know perfectly well who Elky is, kid. I find it hilarious that almost every post you make, you show a little bit more about how you misunderstand parts of the game xD like saying that hydra only has 1 use outside of ZvZ, which is producing lurkers. Have you not heard of timing drops or breaking the front of a terran FE?
All I see from this thread, is you going off on a rant like an arrogant ###### at anybody who comments on your SC "knowledge". You 'crown' yourself just because you assume nobody else here plays/has played SC. Idiot.

I used to play alot but not on battlenet. I got fed up of players building up on one specific attack unit and when they lunched them, they simply quit and logged off right away being sure they had actualy won (without even checking if I had other bases).
All I do now with it is throw all other players as Computer and use showmethemoney blacksheepwall.
I am not sure if I would even go with the SC2 or not.

Yeah quite. My previous account got rocked by Talesin for refusing to change my sig due to it being 1kb too big. But yeah, I totally maintain that most of the posters on here don't even play NS. like 80% of the forum posts = offtopic.
OTF never changes. my god <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />D I am doing what I did four years ago. Skipping school and browsing off-topic at library. oh the tears of childhood.
I picked up SC just before the chrissy season last year. I`ve grown to become somewhat stable D ranked play with above 150APM in this time. I have watched all of gom few times by now and I also watch some amount of starleague in top of it.
Nick "Tasteless" Plott is the best commentator ever. I find watching Starcraft games entertaining and with his comments it becomes awesome. He does commentaries for games at GomTV.net, and here are some quotes on YouTube. Hilarious
"You can tell it's Tempest's shuttle because it has a pair of balls hanging from it, flapping in the wind because it has the speed upgrade." ~Tasteless

I wouldn't call him the best ever, but he's pretty good. Thank god he got a co-commentator so that his voice doesn't go out, unlike last year.
I actually know his brother, who is insane and used to commentate for us when GomTV only had Korean feeds. At the end of a match we would all yell, "Plott, what the ###### just happened?" then he would stand up and explain all the nuances of why the badass just went even more badass.

Well the metagame is still one huge mess. But you addressed the game itself which pretty much is mined out. When bisu came out with `sairs it has been one big ball of ###### really. Zerg need to evolve now! Terran is still just pushing like always and being feared for it. I cant wait to find out the next shift of the BO`s. I loved Susie commenting with Nick but apparently their skis got bit crossed or how to say it politely. If you listened for the last few times Susie was there it wasnt so nice. But still I miss her.... somehow she gave the commentation more flux than superdaniel man. Anyways this discussion is all over gom.
Who ever know Plott`s give em a big hug from me! Tasteless is the man for me currently.
As for the game Im afasia on iccup if anyone wants to duke it out! I currently have most trouble with Terrans when the game drags on. PvP is my strong point.
