Hi everyone,

When I play NS, this one work well, but after 15min - 2h, NS crash, and all fade in white, then NS doesn't work, and windows has to shut down it.
I'm using Vista 32b
Intel core Duo CPU 2.33Ghz
4Go Ram
NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT (upgrade from nvidia.com)

I'm sorry if i do double post :s

Thank's for answer

Then, I saw that "nvlddmkm" make crash of games... Nvidia is not enough compatible with Vista and some times stop quickly the application... (damn *_*)

I don't know anything about Windows Vista. And I have never heard of this type of thing before, but it sounds similar to what I've experienced in the past so I wanted to hand you this information. May I remind you that I am not saying that this is a solution.

If you are running the game in OpenGL, this might be your problem. Because you are using a next-gen VGA card, like me. I am using the 7950GX2 (1024 MB), supporting DirectX9.0c and OpenGL2.0. Your card supports DirectX10 and OpenGL2.0. The game supports OpenGL1.0 and DirectDraw (Direct3D). Either way, OpenGL or DirectDraw, you will overheat your graphic card, fast. This is why you shouldn't play the game for too long with our type of graphic card, especially if you are playing the game in OpenGL.

I am playing the game in DirectDraw (Direct3D), using 16 bit color. Which is terrible. DirectDraw doesn't support 32 bit color, and it doesn't have ANY blur. Unlike OpenGL. I've been waiting for Valve to fix this for three years now, so, yeah... too bad for me... and maybe too bad for you too <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

If you ARE using Direct3D (DirectDraw) on the other hand, you might have to look at the possibility of your card about to die. Next thing you might see is brown squares all over your screen, constant rebooting of Windows, and so forth. And then your CPU and RAM is the next thing to go because of Voltage "disagreements" (this depends on what type of motherboard you are using, if your motherboard is cheap, be prepared that your CPU and RAM choking to overvoltage when your computer keeps on crashing like that (your VGA card dies)).

Again, remember I said that this is not a solution. These are problems I've experienced through-out my time using the HL1 engine, since year 1999.

BUT, if there is a looping sound when your computer crash. It might be a sound card problem. If your sound card is integrated, try updating your motherboard (sound card drivers)... or buy a new motherboard. If it's not integrated, try updating your sound card... or buy a new sound card.
