Whats your favorite?

Right now mine is Shipyard's Pumpkin Head Ale (I'm from Maine and so is the beer!).

    Hmm, good quesstion. There is a great brew-pub in my alma-mater's town that has a delicious beer branded Massatuckey Brown.

    For bottled beer I've been drinking Blue Moon and Full Moon as of late.

    I'm a huge fan of Fat Tire from New Belgium Brewery. It's only sold in Colorado, I'm pretty sure, but it's sold at most bars and every liquor store I've ever been to, it's muy delicioso.

    Mmm.

    I'll drink nearly anything, and I enjoy a good micro-brewery offering. For daily use I'll have to say Killian's Red. It's cheap (less than a dollar a bottle in 12 pack form) and it tastes like <i>something</i>. When I'm feeling saucy, I go with New Castle.

    yah, for cheap bear Yuengling is good stuff.

    My most recent few have been:
    Home brew porter from my brother (VERY well done).
    Morimoto Soba Ale. Made by Rogue who I happen to love just about everything they make, however this one was kinda meh. I mean, it is a good ale, but nothing outstanding.
    Some Bavarian Hefewise that my GF had picked up (unsurprisingly, it is good).

    There is a good sandwich shop in NYC that primarily caries local (mostly NY, but some NE in general) micro brews. It is kinda fun because you keep on running into very limited runs, so you get somethign that you will likely never have again.

    Naw, seriously, I like Zywiec, Tyskie (both polish) and there is a lot of good Belgian beers. But the good old Warsteiners and some Paulaner, would be awesome right now.

    By & large, bottled imports to the UK. Brahma, Sol, San Miguel, Corona, that sort of thing. I'm also partial to a Hoegaarden on a nice day.
    Some of the more Eastern beers, like Asahi (esp Black) and Kirin Ichiban are nice, but don't appear very often here.

    Then there's the Aussie standby in the form of XXXX Gold (not XXXX, it's horrid imo, but I am partial to Gold).

    I'm not massively picky though, I'll try anything at least once.

    If you ever visit Germany and you should happen to come across something like this

    Other than that I enjoy a good stout (guinness) and also an Andechs dunkel.

    Can't stand Pilsners, they taste like soapy water to me (and I am talking about good ones here, the bad ones just have no flavour).

    I love stouts, but I really don't like Guinness much, to sweet for my tastes. There are a couple good American ones (Rogue's Shakespear Stout and one called Mother's Milk). Everyone always says Guinness on tap in Ireland is much different then what we get here, so if I am ever there I will try it.

    Cold Sake == Good Sake.
    Hot Sake == the cheap stuff (heated to mask the flavour and b/c it feels nice when it is cold out).

    Cold Sake is interesting because it tends to have very distinct flavours and is a relatively smooth drink in general. I think it is gaining a larger following in the states so you see more of it then we used to.

    Also, Sake is kinda similar to beer <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> (grain beverage with sugar added to it for the fermentation process)

    I drink more local beers from Canada here. My big two are Grasshopper (from Big Rock) and Alexander Keiths. I also enjoy a Stella Artois from time to time. Not a huge fan of the darker beers.

    And yes, any form of Pilsners is disgusting. It's the butt end of any beer joke around here.

    if drinking stout I usually go for Guinness but I sometimes will have a murphys instead.

    If I'm stocking beer for the fridge, I usually either go with erdinger, tyskie or leffe depending on what I'm in the mood for.

    When out in a bar that only serves the big names, I'll try to get heineken as it's the best of the bland mass produced beers.. if no heine I'll try for a carlsberg.

    Some local bars have a great stock of beers and when I'm there I'll go for a Kirin, Duval or achel brun.

    I do enjoy Samuel Adams of any variety but it hurts my wallet. I've been drinking a lot of Bass and of course who can forget the great PBR

    We call it Smithwicks in Ireland, which is only available bottled and is a brown ale. Kilkenny is the exported variant and is sold on draught with a Guinness like head. They aren't exactly the same but basically Kilkenny is what they came up with when they wanted to sell Smithwicks abroad. They did try to sell it in Ireland for a while but it didn't go down well with the ale drinkers.


    So next time in Ireland try Smithwicks and also ask for a 'large bottle' which is the traditional form of Guinness and is drank at room temperature.

    And yes, Heineken is everywhere. They even own Murphys brewery now too.

    I have a story about Heineken...

    Not long ago on a business trip to New Jersey, my coworkers and I got some dinner at a sit down Chinese place. The brown tea was good, but that's beside the point. I got a Heineken for dinner. I was about halfway done with it when the bar tender comes over with another bottle (mind you my coworkers were drinking, too, but they didn't get any refills for <i>their</i> beers). He looked at me with puppy dog eyes, so I took it...

    Now, our waiter come out, took one look at my refreshed Heineken bottle, and stalked over to the bar tender. He tore a STRIP out of the guy, and the only word I could understand was "Heineken," and "Heineken" was said many, MANY times in a very irritated voice. Done with the bar tender, our wait stalked to the kitchen, still screaming ("Heineken" every few words). A few minutes later, all the waiters going about their business would glare at me as they passed.

    I leaned forward into my table and said, "I'm not sure what just happened, but I'm pretty sure it's about me, and I'm a little scared right now."

    Amen to that! I've been studying abroad for 5 months now in Freiburg and this beer is everywhere! Tasty, and cheap!

    Porters make me stupidly happy.

    The lack of porters in the states makes me sad.

    GF just bought a bunch of beer glasses, so we have to try them out soon (AKA, I am picking up take out and beer on the way home tonight).

    Probably just grabbing what ever the store has that is German (my GF is obviously ethnocentric about her beer, I on the other hand don't care so long as it is good).


    I also had a pint of Harpoon Celtic Ale recently. It is Haproon's spring ale, and is a damn good Irish Red Ale (what ever that means).

    Lots of flavor, but not overly hoppy or malty.
