The TF / Portal Approach?

I know UWE's been in talks with Valve, but has there been any talks of bundling NS2 with a future Valve release?
Episode 3's release date is still unannounced, but it sounds like it would be pushing it to release NS2 in sync with it. We all know there will be future HL releases, and after the epic success of the trio bundle of the Orange Box, you can be sure that Valve will probably do this as much as it can from now on.
Of course, Valve would have to sign off on this first, and they would probably need to see a version of the game much further on in its development than NS currently is. Valve has proven that they really want to branch out as long as it is with quality titles, such as with TF2, Portal and L4D. NS2 could definitely be of interest to them.
If this were to happen somehow, UWE would probably make less profit per unit, but sell way more. All the while, ensuring a larger, more stable and long-term community.
Anyways, just some food for thought.

I don't think he was talking about going back to Source, just having Valve bundle the game with their next release.
It's like saying that Valve would bundle Crysis with the Orange Box
Team Fortress was a free mod for Quake, and an unbelievable one at that. The two creators were hired by Valve in 98, after the first HL was released. I'm not sure how much impact they had on TF2, since one of them was the project lead on Ep1 and the other became a Steam developer, but it still shows how Valve bought talent and a vision and turned it into a phenomenal success.
L4D was being created by Turtle Rock Studios, which was an independent company that had previously been creating the Source remakes of the CS classics. They were selling the remakes to Valve, and after doing that for awhile, they started on L4D. Valve saw how awesome of a release it was going to be, and bought the studio, turning it into Valve South.
I may be off on some of the details, but that's at least the general jist of how Valve has done its acquisitions, which have all been hugely profitable ventures. NS2, from my perspective at least, has as much or more potential than any of these. Not to mention that NS was one of the highest played HL mods, right after CS and DOD.
And yeah, Chrome, you are completely misunderstanding my point. This has nothing to do with the engine used to make the game.

Actually, everything besides the HL2 episode were basically other peoples IP they acquired. However I agree that I don't see it happening unless Valve purchased or did some deal with UWE.
