What I'd like to do is tone down the cursing in my server. The problem i'm having is people cursing each other out which just creates tension.

if somebody has a good wordlist or a link to one let me know or e-mail it to me please

    oh come on, seriously, can't you think of swear words yourself? Either that or trust people to ignore the others. Censoring isn't the answer, removing offensive players is.

    it's my server and I'll handle it how I best see fit. I cannot fathom every curse word so if somebody already has a wordlist it would save me a lot of trouble.

    As my server name implys (Condomeless Brothel) I don't have a problem with someone curseing. BUT, I do not tollerate ppl useing racial or ethnic slurs etc. Or the belittleing of other players.

    I'm fortunate in that regards though. As I have a large following of regular players that help to enforce my opions on fair play and verbal abuse. Also they'res usually always one admin playing. As I also give admins to ppl that play at different times of the day and night. Server is full 24/7 usually anyways, so its needed.

    The best solution I've found, Is to add the admin_gag pluggin. To stop thoose with bad tempers or foul mouths from annoying others. banning to me is always a last action, unless said persons a total idiot. Now of course this doesn't affect the voice system. But usually gagging someone for 5-10 mins gets the point across. And if they then just start getting mouthy on the voice comm I remove them. (although you could also write a script, or just use the admin_execclient command to turn off they're voice comm client side. Something I wouldent do for obvious reasons) But give the admin_gag pluggin a try. admin_llama also works well in this regard.

    Just some alternative options to running a foul word filter. Although it does require constant admining.

    Just one thing, I played on a server that blocked the word "shoe" is was extremely annoying in a map (I can never remember names) that has a section called "horseshoe"...

    hmmm I can't think of any curse that goes with "shoe" .. anyone ?

    btw .. nobody knows of a wordlist for download ?

    Did you look at the one that came with adminmod? Its in the adminmod/config/samples directory.

    Common curses don't bother me... The ones I block are words that provoke fights and name calling. Words that are other variations of damn don't usually make game play annoying. If you want, I can send you mine.

    the default adminmod wordlist isn't blank - maybe you deleted it by accident?

    i let people use curse words if they want, but i try to block insult stuff like

    g@y
    f@g
    n1gg

    and stuff like that. you will need to use all the 31337 versions in there too, to prevent people from using them, like

    ghey
    ghay

    etc

    i love HalfD's word filter!!

    i can set lvls to the offenses and make word lists like:

    [l1][e3][e3][t7] to ban any form of leet speak (gives a warning)
    n[1i]gg[e3]r is another example (imidiate 10minute ban)

    you can also use phases

    th[i1][5s] [5s][3e]rv[e3]r [5s]uck[5s] - gives a wanring..heheheheh


    plus its a great way to monitor chat remotley w/o using that insecure rcon.

    I know Vadakill´s server has a pretty neat and strict word filter and i know he´s registered here at the forums so you might want to contact him.

    It even makes things like:

    rgr = Roger

    ty = Thank you

    gj = Good job
