Gorge Web Question

How do you properly make them?
Here's a newbie question about the 's Web ability. When I select Web and press the button, it shoots little green balls which look exactly like the gorge's normal spit, but I couldn't see the telltale transparent grey strands anywhere (not even with Hive vision, so it's not an issue of my screen being too dark). Once I spat a lot of these green balls, and got the message that no more webs can be created in the area, so I DID make some webs, but couldn't see any. Question: Just what is the proper way of making webs?

I had the same problem. I think the example the helped me the most was "connect the dots". The web will follow the pattern that u place. So if u shoot the side of the wall and then shoot the other side of the wall, the web will extend from both sides.

you can't have any obstacle between the two splits

Well it is kind of hard if you shoot spot at same spot...

Shoot at one part of wall then another wall or same part of wall just far away, this is very effective on floor since it is hard to see.

Just a few 'advanced' points on using web:
    ------------------------------------------------------
Webs are not cumulative in effect - the same marine can play bait/sacrificial lamb and trip all the webs in a single spot and he'll only be webbed for the duration of the last web he breaks. So don't lay 3-4 webs across the same doorway, spread them out across the length of the hall or at each intersection.

There is a limit on webs per area and also a max web limit for the aliens, so don't go spraying web in pointless places where the marines won't trip on it.

Marines can cut through webs with a welder, so sneaky gorges put their webs on the floor instead of across a door or hallway. The downside is that the marines can simply jump over these webs but that's only if they see them. Get a feel for how alert the marines are and lay your webs accordingly.

Webbing the base of resource towers is good way to slow marines up and buy the aliens time to respond to an attack on your nodes.

Webbing at the points where a marine comes into view of a o/dchamber stack can turn your wall into a lethal trap - no weapons and no running for the hapless marine.

Web can be actively applied, making it a good trick for getting a marine off your back and allowing you to flee or even kill the webbed marine! Partner with a fade and this trick is just evil - no weapons, no movement and an angry fade in your face - fear the 2-hive gorge!

Actually, they do stack. The marine will be stuck for the total duration. This is especially good for traps, as the marine will be completely unable to move for a while, instead of just slowed down by one web.
Also, use this when you get in trouble with a single marine. Just shoot webs straight at him, and he'll be stuck as long as you keep shooting, and for a while after that, so you can kill him with healing spray - very embarrassing, especially for that "l33t" player who just whined to his commander for HA/HMG.

    ehhh
    zig zags.

You can only place a certain amount within a certain area.

Try to placee them near offense chambers or just unexpecting spots.

The two most effective patters for web placement, in my experenece, are the zigzag and the "web mines". The zigzag placement means you zigzag the web over the door, all on the same plain, so that the marine will run into 3 or 4 webs at one time when he hits the wall of webbing.

The "Web Mines" patters places some webs on the floor. This does not decrease their effectiveness - the webs will still snare marines. In addition, they are very stealthy, especally if you place them in a very small distance. Either scatter very small webs around on the floor, or lay a strand of web over the floor the covers the hallway, and doubleback webs over the first strand so you have a stack of three or four that the marine will all hit at the same time. Web mines can also be used on a single wall, or a celing to a similar effect. For example, place some offensive chambers in a hallway, and put web mines or zigzag webs over the chambers. When the jetpack marine tries to fly over them, he will run into the webs, get stuck, lose jetpack power, and fall onto the offensive chamber, killing him very quickly.

    Be creative! marines HATE webs.

i always find this way useful in setting traps for Marines, lay a web like this on the floor and even the bunnyhoppiest of men wont go untouched

And remember that switching weapons causes the "connect the dots" pattern to be broken. That is, if you want to create some unconnected lines of webs, an easy way to make sure that you have breaks is to switch like this. This can allow you to cover a nice amount of a hallway if you like mine-like web placement, or if you like narrow strands across hallway floors.

Personally, I like to have a "david's star" of webs in the doorway, then have a few strands on the floor too.

Your Average "1337", anti-semitic player will cut down the webs on the doorway, but miss the ones on the floor, and be stuck anyway.

plus, it also makes a VERY loud noise sounding like a rattlesnake + leaf blowing + zippering x 1000 which will lure any aliens toward your webbed self.
