<div class="IPBDescription">two ideas in one thread</div>I know there will be a ragdoll, but what did you think about a ragdoll without dying?
E.g. If a onos hit a marine with 80Damage, the marine become a ragdoll and fly away (just a bit), he get a "stand up" animation and all is fine.
Same with grenades vs. skulks or smaller creatures like lerk or gorge.
The Problem is, if you get hit and fly away, you are a very easy target <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
But it would be very cool to shoot a skulk down a abyss and see him flying down, then he stand up and run to you.
The other version is:
Only the aliens can do that, if the lerk spit the gas to marines, the marines get ill (just like if they parasite, a sprite) so if they get hit with more then 40 Hp Damage, they become a ragdoll and fly to the ground, after that he gets a stand up animation.
[*]For better balance, the marines can buy or get from commander 1 syringe (research!) with that, they get +20HP, if they do that while HP is 100, they get 120HP but the HP will going down after e.g. 10 seconds to 100 again.
Only 1 syringe each marine and they can only take 1 syringe every e.g. 1 Minute.
<b>The last version is without the ragdoll, just the syringes or pills [*] <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> .</b>

Oh right
Syringes = catalyst

A stand-up animation would require time out of marine's ability to attack, and it would be very disorientating for a player. Something people seem to forget is that is that when playing these games <b>you do not have all of your senses</b>. If you character is sent flying and knocked over / down then you will only see the visual movement; the balance regulators in the human body would help indicate what's going on, but modern computers have no hope of relaying this feedback. Left 4 Dead tried this by throwing you out of first person for the experience but this also made you vunerable, something that would spell instant death in Natural Selection (2). At best you could have a souped-down version of this, your character having sufficient knockback (but staying on their feet). A trained marine should know how to break falls and minimise impacts. Having the marine fly and stumble would be feasible, but at least allowing them to still shoot within a second or two is only fair.
