Is that a Skulk on his fronthead?
<img src="http://users.telenet.be/desert/delaz/ns/ns1.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
Are those parts moving because of the physics, or are they just animated?
<img src="http://users.telenet.be/desert/delaz/ns/ns2.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />
Glowing eyes
<img src="http://users.telenet.be/desert/delaz/ns/ns2.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
Armor?
<img src="http://users.telenet.be/desert/delaz/ns/ns3.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />
Moving tentacles (physics?)
<img src="http://users.telenet.be/desert/delaz/ns/ns1.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />
Did you guys notice other stuff? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

i dunno about that, but there's definately a skulk funning in the vent jsut after the steam goes off. there's also a skulk that skurrys up the wall and possibly into a vent just as the door opens and the onos steps through..

physics methinks. i also thought it was interesting with the props that pade up part of the door, after it smashes open 2 parts go flying... one lands hear his hand when he wakes up, the other is in front of the onos and looked like a weapon when i first saw it LOL

do those horn things move as well?
all in all a very awesone disection dude, now go disect those parts!
ooh ooh ooh and the infestation at the end, the way it grows across the metal, then crosses the field of vision.. do ya think they may use that in game the blur out the camera when you're dying? (if covered by DI)
We mostly just made stuff up though.

On the left is the Skulk, you easily see him run up the wall.
On the right I think is the Gorge, he's hard to see though. To watch him, when your view switches to the vent, follow the red arrow for movement (he runs from the circle to the very end - slightly in view).
I think picture #2 is a Gorge because I noticed he wobbles a little while running (unlike the skulk shown in #1), plus, we've already seen a skulk now, so we wouldn't see another running <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
Thoughts?
In NS1 there were ladders (of course), but never ones that I can remember in an enclosed space like that seemingly leading to an upper deck, as it caused considerable problems for the commander to navigate.
Could it possibly be that we may have multi-storey maps to deal with? If so, this could prove an interesting way of completely opening up various avenues of approach.
I realise that I may just be looking much too into things, because having such a feature does also open up its own set of problems - foreseeably how these upper regions can be represented on a 2D map that is easily understood by both commander and player alike.
I mean, it could simply lead to a vent, and we're familiar enough with those.

Its a skulk in both pictures, it moves exactly the same. (similar to a dog btw.)

Haha, I liked that article a lot, made me laugh.
CRATE!!!!

If you have ever played the Rainbow Six games (lets say Raven Shield here), you would know that in planning phase (tactical map planning) you could zoom "up/down" different plane levels.
This means you could have a 4 story building, and have an individual map for each story (including the roof level) of the building, without the map being messy.
=)
You'd need to be able to switch very fast between the different levels, e.g. hotkeys, not just being able to go up and down one level at a time.

In that game it was hotkeys. Default was pageup and pagedown, but they could be rebinded.
Like binding them to the mousewheel? =)
I am not sure anymore about how it was in the Rainbow Six series but as far as I remember it was at a pace that would be too slow in Natural Selection, for example when a marine is shouting for medpacks after he fought off on skulk and is attacked by another one.
The change should be nigh instantaneous.

I watched this in slow motion and it's definitely a Gorge in your right picture (the part after the steam).
<b>edit: I'm wrong, as indicated below. I just realize the skulk is even coming out of the vent thing it was in at the end, and as it gets closer to the door you can see it looking a lot more like a skulk. When you initially see it next to you, the tail and cute gorge run really looks like it, though!</b>
It's not slim and not fast enough to be a gorge and it has the form of a skulk.

Man I love the running animation for the first skulk under that grating.
(I hadn't noticed either skulk at all... I suck).
Hey, I came back didn't I? In spite of the fact that it's overrun by Canadians and people from South Cacalackie... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

0_o MonsE's back?
(If it makes you feel any better I didn't notice it until someone pointed it out in the official thread.)
bhop with cele?
on a serious note, I didn't actually notice the hive until just now! I guess the onos stole most of the limelight initially.
