Will it work in 3d?

<div class="IPBDescription">iZ3D Monitor, or Red/Blue</div>Hello!
I have played NS since Q1 2004, and have pre-ordered the special edition already.

I own an iZ3D monitor ( <a href="http://www.iz3d.com" target="_blank">http://www.iz3d.com</a> ) which is a stereoscopic 3D monitor, that is pretty awesome. 3D adds a lot of cool stuff to games, so I'm really hoping this would work!

The way it works, is iZ3D develops their own drivers, which hooks into DirectX 8 or 9 Games, and generates the 3D Output.

Now, the cool thing is that they also have a free Red/Blue output mode, which anyone can use with any monitor, and it can be a lot of fun.
There is a really cool youtube that explains how to use the Red/Blue: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mudweYKciog" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mudweYKciog</a>

So, I'm wondering if anyone has ever heard of this before, and wondering if the devs would like to try it maybe. You can get drivers from here: <a href="http://www.iz3d.com/drivers" target="_blank">http://www.iz3d.com/t-dcdriver.aspx</a>
If you find time to see if it runs, and let us know, that would be great <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> Because if the free red/blue works, then I know it will work with my monitor. And it also means that everyone who plays it, can experience 3D!

I think from reading their forums that you can also code in 3D directly into the engine really easily for free, and without any licensing. So, you may want to contact them about it, because I think it could add a lot to your game.

Thanks! And a double thanks if you can find 5 minutes to test it for us! But I know you are all busy.

I've been wondering this too, as I'm planning to rebuild my computer sometime this summer. I expect the FPS part will probably work, as first person shooters are already programmed in 3D, but I'm curious about the commander's top down view, which could also benefit from the 3D...

Yea there could be some awesome effects for sure.

The only issues I can think of is all the HUD elements. Sometimes the drivers can have issues with those. But I guess we'll see <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Sounds like it should. It appears that the Commander's top down view is still of course based off a three dimensional representation of the map:

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->There's obviously cool stuff like dynamic lighting
and dynamic infestation, and the weldable doors I mentioned earlier. The new
commander camera implementation makes elevation changes much easier to handle
by following a heightmap generated by a grid of entities placed at floor height
throughout the level - as your level goes up or down in elevation, the camera
can follow. It's a little thing, but greatly improved from the flat height of
    NS1.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Awesome Xirvus.rei, thank you.

Well, now I'm even more excited than ever to get early access!!
