Guys,
The best way to get more prepurchases is to get people interested, the way to do that is by releasing more information, more screens and more ingame footage.
I am sure that if the rage about the game gets on you will have more than enough funding to go around.

How hard is it to understand? Your rant just makes the rest of us want to slap you. Well.. at least I'm thinking of it.
I do appreciate the twitter updates though, those kinda let you know that they are still working hard in the game.
I couldn't help but point out Mr charisma told you to be patient. Haha :)
There is currently only one finished map I believe... and a greybox level!
Bottom line, don't be telling a games company who have a PR company working with them co-ordinating how they are marketed, how to market.
Wow, really racking up the postcount with those "Sighs", huh?
Anyway, prepping a screenshot release is more complicated than some of you may think:
1.) You don't want to release shots of an unfinished/unpolished model.
2.) Your going to need a good looking pose for the model(s) to be in. This either requires custom tweaking one just for the screenshot or having finished animations (supposedly using MoCap, but we haven't heard conformation of that yet).
3.) You need an environment for the shot to take place in. This would preferably be a finished/polished section of a map.
4.) You'll also need proper lighting for the shot, possibly custom lighting to really show off the shot.
As you can tell, its not as simple as it is for players taking their personal screenshots. A development team need to make their game look good. And a lot of work.

So, using this idea we can conclude there is almost nothing done in the end?
I'm sure there is a lot of things done, why they don't show i don't know. But i loved the videocasts and other informations or shots of models, textures, anything.
Before there was some regular disclosure, now i see nothing!
The last good piece of technical information we received was in 10/04.
Look the sequence of relevant updates since start of the year:
January 22: Meet the resource tower
February 6: Unknown Worlds Videocast #8 - Tools
February 13: Unknown Worlds Podcast #27
March 5: Occlusion Culling
March 23: One small step for a man, one giant leap for Mac-kind
March 30: Committal and top-down level design in NS2
April 2: Building things quickly with Mockups
April 6: Effect Editor Part 1
April 10: Marine "Power Grid" design
April 17: ModDB interview with KungFuSquirrel
... A month ...
May 27: NS2 teaser, new site and pre-orders!
... Just 10 days and will be another month ...
Last videocast was February 6. Beside the teaser, this was the date of the last game relevant "screenshot".
I wold like to see... more...
you see that already major parts are working out excellent in their engine,
but I guess the "screenshot-time" hasnt begun. Just because the game isnt
developed enough to actually "play" it. If they would release
ugly looking screenshots right now which even the developers dont like
themselves... what would the customers think about it? everyone would start
to doubt if ns2 ever could become a nice game. a company just has to
choose the right moment to present their product.

Sorry if I'm double posting, but the PlayTester rank means that he specifically playtested "NS1." I hope you do know there is a Natural Selection 1. To playtest the Alpha, you need to pre-order the special edition. Please keep that in mind. If there was a playtest for NS2 right now, the whole community would be aware of it.
That would be epic. His reappearance is coincidental, but that could just be to watch the next saga unfold this time around.
Then again, screen shots would not necessarily correspond with progress

so, hurry up!
Just my 2 cents.

its way too early to compare ns2 with DNF :D
And I hope we never have to do so
Incidentally, as noted: The original NS PT's know nothing more than everyone else. Not that it doesn't stop them asking/harassing/whining just as much, if not more. :)
On the other I'd love to see something new, especially with all the teasing "we'll show you soon" that goes on in the twitter thread.
yeah, they need to change the Playtester group name to NS1 Playtester
