keeps pointing to hl ns
When i run HLSD from the downloaded hlserver standalone, it always points to the ns folder in the

half-life/ns folder. Its weird cuz i already have the ns server downloaded and put into the hlserver folder. Any suggestions?

sorry i think i better work that better

    I mean this:

Ok, I download hlserver4110, and installed ns in the folder "ns" in c:\hlserver. When I run hlds.exe, it takes the server.cfg file from the c:\sierra\half-life\ns folder, when it should take it from the c:\hlserver\ns one. Any suggestions why its doing it?

because you are trying to run it form the ingame menu instead of from a shortcut?

i mean, really man, come on...

if you can't even navigate or understand windows how do you expect to run a decent game server?

If you just start HLDS then you start a dedicated HL Server.

You must add -game ns after HLDS.exe

    c:\Games\HLServer\HLDS.exe -game ns

    RTFM.

ambush: navigate into your c:\hlserver directory and right click on hlds.exe and create shortcut.. then right click on it > properties and add your server parameters from there.

the start in should be : c:\hlserver

and target as you posted above.

so you run it with this but it uses server.cfg from your game installation?

    am i understanding you correctly?

correct. so in this case the -game ns switch tells it which game you want it to host.. and it will default to the NS server.cfg
