New Onos Is Omnivore :)

I give you Exhibit A:

Compared to

Exhibit B:
Maps with Biodome!

Exhibit C:
Green 'Infestation' that could possibly be a plant/Algae!

Anymore? :)

What was the old one? I never paid attention to the Onos teeth so much -- more worried about that big horn.

    Lol.
It's funny how you worried about figuring out what would be the diet of Onos.
Well, it seems like the Onos has molar tooth. So, does it mean that it eats both meat and vegetable?

In standard evolution it would mean he is an omnivore, however, we must consider that he evolved specifically for his role.
The molar teeth are designed for crushing and chewing, as opposed to biting and tearing of the sharp teeth.
What this tells me is that the onos evolved to munch on armor and metal-covered marines.

Well It actually seems like a smart evolution choice for them, more options for food means better chance of survival. And In the onos revealed update they explained what the infestation is.

Of course, you know this means that maps will have to have plants and grass, which the Onos could graze.

Well, seeing as how the Onos is a mutated alien species that's been taken over by bacteria, it's possible to say that the Onos was originally a herbivore, then changed into what we know now. (Though, I agree that molars could have some effect on "armor.")

Well, I'm assuming that the aliens live a nice quiet life when there aren't any marines invading their space stations, so they must have SOME organic stuff to stay alive off of.

Actually, I believe lore states that they are formed from the bacteria, and when they aren't needed (say, to fight off marines) they aren't formed

It could even be them copying the marines some more.

"Hey look at these crazy teethy thingies these dead marines have. Mabe it helps them fight! Lets have them too :D"

    No, no, away. Away.

Is it that big a deal, though?

Fortunately the new onos' momma was a space cow, so he's all set for calcium.

I'm going with the blatant ret-conned justification of "evolution against armour".

Molars are for grinding down tough, fibrous plant material rather than tearing soft, yielding animal flesh. When you're chomping down on significantly more than your recomended daily allowence of iron I imagine there's gonna be as much crushing and grinding as there is piercing and tearing.

Maybe the kharaa comms can make little health bulbs grow out of the infestation. They are little plants for the lifeforms to use up to restore health. This would be the organic form of medspam. It takes much longer to grow/appear, but also stays around for a longer time. Would allow for interesting strategies involving secret recharge zones setup by comms. These could be easily erased with a flame thrower if discovered. I so want to see more!
