Gamemode lua: Infection Survival

<div class="IPBDescription">just an idea</div>Only Marines can be played, the marines fly through a black hole and come out nowhere, but wait, there is another ship.
And in this ship you start and the WAR begin.

You spawn as marine with 1 Life (no spawn)in your ship, the door to the other ships (who you dock on ;) ) will open.
Then the zombies are comming, you will hear screaming and crying before you see them or while you see them. (AI taken from siege gun/siege bot?)
A lot of Marines (infected with Dynamic infestation or something "look like infection texture" ) comming to you (like zombies just a bit faster), for every kill you get experience, with that Experience you can "buy" in your ship new weapons, items and stuff.

After the marines are dead, another door will open after you activate the door button (can only activate after 20 seconds last wave).
Everytime if you hit the door button, a sound will trigger and a red lamp will rotate, then the zombies are comming, by every door the zombies are stronger and faster.
Just an very simple idea, i am very sure it brings a lot of fun.

    This sounds like a really cool idea. We all know that every good game needs ZOMBIES!! It also sounds like something that the community will make via the use of lua rather than it actually coming out with the game.

    a cool mod might be alien defense, only marines, they are in an elevated position/easy to defend position and have to survive from ai. too bad ai would be kind of sucky :( else you could have 2-3 alien players that are capable of doing commanders such as "follow" and it can be great way to do sudden rushes. would be fun being an alien trying to crack open the marines defense and be so epic seeing 10 marines shoot off 30 skulks from a tower as an onos rams a gate.

    An intresting idea for a single player game option but it dosnt really have much to do with natural selection, id mke it waves of aliens too many games go along the zombie road nowerdays. Having aliens would make it easier to produce imo as you could start of with waves of skulks and work up to a mixture of the higher lifeforms.

    A critisism though is that you would *have* to change the backstory, you cant fly though a black hole. A black hole is a region of massive gravity so huge that it can bend lightwaves into it. if you flew into it you would be crushed.
    Make it a wormhole or some unexplained space anomaly.
    otherwise it could work nicely

    What do you mean too many games go down the zombie road, lol, I think too many mods go down the zombie road and screw it up, resulting in zombies getting a bad reputation in gaming.

    The zombie thing would be feasible.
    Marines that had fallen in an infested area or in an infested ship but not killed, would have infestation grow inside of them and over their bodies.
    This infestation takes control of the brain, and the marine would basically be paralysed, and basically being stuck in a painful prison, and kept alive by the infestation so that the body is still functioning, while the infestation controls the rest of his/her movements.
    The Infested/infected marine would not be able to run, it would only be able to shamble like a zombie, and only basic motor functions would be utilized by the infestation, so the marine couldn't know how to use a weapon and so on regardless of the infestation taking control over the brain.

    The game mode could very well be that the non infested/infected marines find a derelict colonist transport craft heading towards a newly colonised planet, they go on board finding dead rotting aliens everywhere, and the space craft being completely infested by that dreaded slime. Marines would then have to fight a ship load of infested/infected marines and colonists and whipe them all out before both ships end up entering the planets atmosphere and crashing, potentially causing havoc on a colony on the planet surface and killing everyone aboard both ships.

    This would be more like a seek and destroy kindof mission, but it could also be more like Killing Floor's style of gameplay with waves of enemies and limited ammunition.

    I like the idea of zombies in space, but like any IDEA, it has to be executed properly in order to actually be good.

    I like that we are discussing Mods already :)

    I've been thinking for a while how cool it would be to mix. Ai controlled alien waves with Human marine players and sentries. No commander though, just marines placing sentries and shooting aliens with their own guns also.

    Sort of like a Desktop Tower Defense where you and your buddies would also be fighting among the towers.

    Kills get you points and points get you more towers (and tower types)!

    I would love a tower defense mod for use with NS2 if it's feasible come launch =)

    Zombies are awsome, as a mod only.
    But don't show how many deaths the zombies have because that's always frustrating.
    dynamic environments work well with them. Maybe there could be Upgrade chambers that do weird, scary things in stead of their usual functions. (eminate darkness instead of cloak, redemp zombies that come back to life, gorge spit blinds, ect)
    and all those horror suggestions about hanging corpses from the ceiling and eating them.

    rabid zombie sculks running at you or popping out of the closet.

    oh man this sounds so cool. i get this whole left 4 dead kind of gameplay thing in my head combined with a 'Dead space' dark environment with the 'nazi zombies' from codwaw. but instead of waves, the zombies just get tougher and more numbers the deeper u go into the space ship.

    i can picture marines trying to make it to the escape pods, while opening or activating certain rooms or areas that allow them to get more upgrades. eg: taking an alternate route to go to the reasearch labs for access to improve weapons and damage, or making your way to the observatory first so that you can gain the upgrade motion tracking, but first u have to go to the engine room and fix up the reactor with the welder in order to get the power going. This mode would be absolutely amazing and it would work well with the power grid built into the game.
